Are you looking for a meaningful way to spend your summer? Well, look no further, today, we are excited to invite you to join the 7 Cups Summer Internship Program. A summer internship is an opportunity offered by an organization to work for a fixed, limited period of time to advance your professional experience.
The 7 Cups summer internship is specifically designed to give you valuable experience in the following skills:
------> Active Listening Skills & Best Practices
------> Community Engagement: experience the connectivity of being part of an online community
------> Build therapeutic relationships with the members you support on the site
------> If you are a psychology major or working towards getting your counseling degree, you will gain solid experience working in the field
Note: You do not need to be a studying psychology or counseling to apply. People from all backgrounds are welcome.
------> Add meaningful experiences to add to your professional resume

Other important facts about the internship:
------> You can do it on your own time! The hours spent volunteering are flexible!
------> You can do it in conjunction with other internships, jobs or volunteer programs
------> You can participate in the internship community! Join other active interns and share in this experience together
Requirements to sign up:
1. Create a listener account and successfully complete the active listening training
2. Have a minimum of two, 1-1 chats under your belt. We will not accept applicants who have not taken this preliminary step. This step ensures you are comfortable with taking chats and our community platform.
3. You must be a self-starter & be ambitious to get started & work through each piece of the internship

Hey there! To be able to apply you first need to sign up to be a Listener. Then you can fill out the Internship signup form mentioned at the beginning of this thread. Just scroll up and read all the info.

Hey! Great question!
An intern will spend a minimum of 10 hours per week of listening to members in 1-1 chats (minimum 8 weeks in total) - you can choose more if you want to.
Besides that, the intern will need to become an active member in our community, completing all trainings that are provided for listeners, become a group moderator and offer support in the chatrooms as well, do offline outreach and spread the word about 7 cups in his city & many other awesome things! We are offering great support to all interns, as each of them will have a mentor (just as new listeners have) & will have access to a special section in the forums and a chatroom just for them!
This internship requires commitment, patience, proactivity and passion to listen to members. Hope this answers your question. Feel free to ask more if you want to!

Is there a certain length of time that you have to have been a listener for to be considered for the position? I want to apply but I've only been listening for two weeks.

I apologise allow me to rephrase. Is there a certain length of time that i have to be listening for to actually get the position? I would be really interested in doing this, but scared to get my hopes up in case I haven't been a listener for long enough you know?

Nope! Right now, there is no need for previous listening experience to sign up for the internship.
@WhisperofWinter You don't have to be a listener for any x period of time before you are qualified to apply. You can apply as soon as you have done at least 2 support chats (chats with guests/members in 1-1s) and completed the initial listener training. These two requirements are also stated on the application form :D Let's say somebody joined today, they could still, possibly, sign up to be an intern on the very same day (as long as you meet these two requirements).

Hey! The minimum amount of time you can sign up for the internship is 8 weeks (2 months). But you can surely start in any month you wish.

I was also wondering how long it generally takes to hear back (I realize there are probably many applications to get through and that you're very busy!). Thanks so much!
