Adding to the Community Management Team Again! Accepting Applications For SubCommunity Coordinator
Update - the role has been updated to a full time Community Manager position now!!
Hi Everyone,
I am very excited to make this post! The 7 Cups community team is growing to better meet YOUR needs and ensure more positive experiences across the entire community. We will soon be posting a new part time role: Sub-Community Coordinator!
This role represents a new type of management structure. As we grow, we want to start building specific groups of users to better focus on their needs. We built a safe and strong teen community. Now, our next step is to learn from what we have built and work on some new groups; learn again, and pick up the next set. We are going to ask this person to take the lead on managing up to 8 established Subcommunities!
Some of you asked me to clarify how this role will be different from a SubCommunity Mentor Leader. It is quite different and Id like to make that as clear as possible. Each Subcommunity has and will continue to have a Community Mentor leader! This is a vital role in every subcommunity - the role is outlined here.
Now, imagine if each CML had their own, designated community manager supporting them and their efforts? Someone they can go to for help, assistance and brainstorming? Someone who can help manage conflict and encourage safe and supportive participation in your subcommunity? You can and should think of this as a partnership. If I could provide this service to each of the subcommunity volunteer teams, I would. But I only have 2 hands and 10 fingers (4 hands and 20 fingers if I count Kate).
Did you know we have 500 volunteers plugged into our over 40 established subcommunities? Only about 8% of these volunteers come to leadership meetings, reply to emails and check in with the community management staff. Many of these volunteers drop off, leave without notice and we never see their full potential. Our goal is to provide better, higher quality support to all of the volunteers who are making 7 Cups a successful and buzzing community. The result of this will be stronger subcommunities who are providing better support to members all over the world, free of charge.
As usual, this will be an experiment. Something we learn and improve upon as we go - of course, your feedback is always welcome. I have been dreaming of a role like this for over a year (@Opstops can vouch for this :P). I believe higher quality support for our volunteer leaders will result in a higher quality community experiences for members to get help. And I am excited to bring this individual on board to help us learn and make 7 Cups even stronger!
Specifically, the SubComm coordinator will be responsible for all of the daily functioning of these subcommunities including:
-- Organizing & hosting team leadership meetings (Right now, our weekly SC leader meeting is for every team. This new coordinator will organize meetings on behalf of the volunteer teams they support. The result will be more specialized meeting times to problem solve and organize.).
-- Being an active participant in all of their designated communities.
-- Work very closely with the existing volunteer teams and leaders in each subcom.
-- Ensure new volunteers are trained and added in a timely and consistent manner.
-- Support special events and initiatives in these subcommunities.
-- Monitor any safety or quality concerns in their subcommunities.
-- Manage subcommunity suggestion boxes or create a place for people to submit suggestions and ideas on how to better their communities.
-- Monitor success metrics for each of their designated subcommunities.
-- Set up SC specific welcoming teams. Set up a system by which all new members get a welcome in the forum or PMs!
We are still finalizing the list of subcommunities they will be working with. Tentatively, they include: Parenting & Pregnancy, Caregivers Support, Family Support, Relationship Support and 35 +
We are really excited to have this addition to the team. We will be experimenting with this role to see how it can best fit into our community system.
You can read the entire role description here!
This sounds like such a wonderful idea and I hope that the experiment truly works out! Best of luck to everyone who is going to apply. C:
@Laura
Are you going to be transparent about the salary for this opportunity?
@BestIcanbe
Thank you for your question. This is a contractor role to start, so the pay will be hourly. Yes, anyone who is selected to be interviewed is welcome to ask about compensation.
@Laura
But how can you expect anyone to go through the application process not even knowing what the salary is? I would need to know it allowed me to sustain my living standard. Ive just not seen salaries so shrouded in mystery before. Most employers are much more transparent.
This is super amazing, @Laura !
@Laura you forgot to count your toes ;~;
*sneezles* if yr gonna force a friend on me she'd better be better than kate is all D:'
prolly shouldn't have set standards so high to begin with, huh :P
@bunnypants

@Laura if i had to choose between you & kate i'd take you boffs ;~; <3
Is being a listener compulsory to apply?
@Laura
@SlytherinSnitchSeeker as far as I know everyone, even people outside 7cups are welcome to apply! So you don't have to be a listener to apply for it, if you feel it's something that interest you - give it a try!
Thanks for the information!
