What upsets you about the lack of knowledge others have of your disability?
Looking forward to it!
I was born 3 and a half months premature and have already had a (congenital) cataract removed from my left eye. That was in Sept. 12 2017 at age 41.
The one in my right eye is still there but will have to be removed likely in a few years

What is rare about me ?
If you asked me personally i would say there is nothing interesting about me. My family would not agree on that though as they have told me many times.
There is one thing that is interesting about me, i am born prematurally. Now being born early by a week or two can have dangerouse effects on the child in question and may mean death if not taken care of quickly and properly.
I was born 4 months early, i did not have functioning lungs, my heart needed surgery and i had to be flown from the hospital i was born at to a bigger hospital that had the equipment necessary to keep me alive. During my time at the hospital i had help from machines to breath, i was fed through a tube, i had the aforementioned heart surgery. I was told by my parents that at three separate occasions they almost lost me to the conditions that followed my troubled birth. As you can by no doubt tell this was an awul experience for my parents. They tell me how special i am because of it and they like to remind me.... of course i can never see quite what they mean some days.
This is what makes me special, and because of all this i am happy to be where i am today...... alive.
If I had to pick something rare about me, it would be my bad memory. It makes life complicated and interesting at the same time, kinda. I struggle remembering details and concentrating, so come tomorrow, I most likely won't remember writing this post in the first place. Time gets twisted really fast, too. But like with everything, you learn to live with it after years. It's strange what all the human mind can get used to.
There is something that makes me rare, I've had a lot of health issues. I'm going to share one, I am 35 and I have osteopenia, in fact the first time I was diagnosed I was 23 years old, it's weird because I can not lead a normal life like people of my age, I can not even go jogging, my life it's a bit boring. Many times I feel angry, and I ask myself why I have so many health problems, if there are so many people around me who do not have any. Discovering 7 cups has helped me to accept and want to take care of myself again.
3 rare things about me? uhmm... let's se... i just have two things:
1. I can move my ears, one independent of the other or both at the same time :P
2. I was about to not be born, the doctors told my mother that it was not time yet. My mother prevailed and we managed to enter the operating room. I had complications, fetal suffering. I breathed meconium but strangely I did not experience any brain damage. I'm grateful to my mother for not giving up. <3
Nothing as crazy as being born early, but I have reynauds and nearly died of Meningitis when I was five. I was blessed to not have serious lasting damage from the meningitis.
