Introducing....... Group Support Assistance Form
Hi everyone,
In our continuing efforts to improve the quality of our chatrooms, we are introducing the Group Support Assistance Form.
What is a Group Support Assistance Form?
A lot goes into maintaining the group chats and there are times when as a room supporter, moderator, or host, one feels stuck or in need of help. This form will serve as a way to learn more skills and ask any and all questions to feel equipped and confident in respective leadership roles.
Through this form, we will be offering support on any or all scenarios related to:
- General Assistance: Quick questions related to roles, rooms, etc.
- Group Support related Peer Support: A lot happens in group support and at times hosts, room supporters, and moderators feel overwhelmed, drained, and low. So it will help one to seek group support related peer support from a fellow room supporter, chatroom moderator, and any group support leader.
- Backup Support: In the middle of a challenging situation? Need more support? We will be one request away to be there with you.
- Hosting-related support: Have any questions related to hosting or need any support on this front?
- Protocols on how to handle a specific scenario when faced with a scenario that you’re stuck on how to manage.
- Need of a Resource, Information, Updates: Any specific resource, skill, information, and updates threads you need,
- Others, if not covered above.
It is inspired by the Listener Coaching Program and Buddy System and utilizes elements of both to aid our group support leaders.
Please tell us what you think!

@ASilentObserver
Hi Obs! 😊❤️ Great initiative! This is really nice! This really makes my heart sing as well, because I am able to "read between the lines" on this one.......or at least what it means to me, what resonates strongly to me...
I have been a peer support and for quite a long time. I love this role and have always truly embraced it. So many times, leaders here in the community may have felt that since they have a role, they are expected to do it all on their own. One example would be a peer support that feels since they themselves are a peer support they should be able to handle it all, know best and not reach out to fellow peer support for their own emotional needs for things that may happen on the site.
None of us are expected to do this alone! We are not islands unto ourselves! Everyone deserves their own private time, private space and should be given the opportunity to have a soft spot to land with another caring individual! ❤️
Sometimes Listeners might not understand that there is no shame in creating, having and using a member account. In fact, 7 cups encourages that we all create one. It's best to create the member account ahead of time even if you think you might not need it.
It's best for it to be there in the event that it is needed instead of creating one in the middle of being so very upset (stress, stress and more stress, eek! 😳). Sometimes site issues (chats with a member) can trigger deeper emotions that are profound or even things that happen with teammates.
One of the interesting things about being a listener on 7 cups, in my opinion, is that through this journey we just may end up learning a great deal about ourselves!
One thing that has helped me, to help others is even letting others know that "hey, guess what? Even mentors have mentors that they go to"! No shame in my game! Weeeeeeeee weeeeeeee! 😊 That one comment from me seems to help and quite a bit!
Obs, thank you for letting everyone know that it's okay to ask for support and help! None of us have to do this alone! Teamwork makes the dream work! 😊 *high fives* 😊 and big *hugs* ❤️
What a great idea @ASilentObserver!
Extremely helpful for new and current group session hosts!
