Boyfriend unsure about relationship??

My boyfriend of a year and 5 months has suddenly decided he is unsure about our relationship. This started just last week when his behavior started to change. He was less talkative, barely texted more than two words, and stopped saying "I love you".

This hit me hard as I thought we would've ended up together forever. We planned a future, got promise rings, and made things official to our parents. But now it all seems like it meant nothing to him.

I finally got him to open up just a bit to know why the sudden change in behavior but he has asked for more time to think things through before talking any more about the situation. I agreed and now we are talking a bit more (though it feels forced). Our routine hasn't changed much, we still call during his break at work, take a nap in the afternoon, and end our day by sleeping in a call, all things we did when we first dated.

My concern here is, how do I deal with this change? I'm so afraid he will decide to end things and I love him so much, I know I cant change his mind if he decides to leave but is there anything I can do now? Maybe something to get him back to me before he decides to split ways? I'm not sure, he may or may not break up with me but waiting and being patient when we're like this is so difficult for me.

@Shykitty

Hello, Welcome to Relationship Support Space. Thank you for reaching out and sharing your thoughts with us.
When you are at receiving end of your partner's confusion about the relationship you both have, it is natural to feel concerned and panic as you love your partner.

But to save your relationship, the first thing you could do is take a deep breathe and know you got this. Try not to get panicked because when you will be calm, it will allow you to understand why your partner may be feeling this way and address it better.

What all you could do is apart from that at the moment is allowing him time and space to process his thoughts and understand how you and this relationship important for him. Let him streamline his own unclear thoughts to get clarity. Also, give them reassurance because at times that is all one needs. A reassurance that you are there with them.

And relationship is about two people and not one. If there is anything, you both need to communicate and address it together. But you can't force other people to do things if they do not want to. All you can do is your part.

We all are here with you! Sending virtual hugs!
