Academy Leadership Meeting April 2023
Hi everyone! I hope you are doing well. It is time for us to gather for another meet-up! This is our monthly academy team get-together. Typically we would have chatroom meetings followed by a forum activity to be more inclusive of time zones. However as this week, it is Eid for some of us including myself, therefore it is challenging to have a chatroom meet-up. We will still have a forum meet-up!
In this forum get-together, we will continue to get to know each other with a focus on what everyone celebrates.

Which holiday/festival do you celebrate?: Vesak Day
What is your favorite part of the festival?: I love going to the temple on Vesak Day. Even with the crowd, I just find it so peaceful and tranquil to just sit and think about everything.
@azuladragon34
I have not heard of the festival before. When do you typically celebrate it?
@Hope
In May.

1. Which holiday/festival do you celebrate?
The main holiday I celebrate is Chinese New Year!
2. What is your favorite part of the festival?
The family reunion dinners, and watching dragon and lion dance performances. 😃

@richuyulin
Chinese New Year is a fascinating one. How long do the celebrations last for you?
@Hope
Chinese New Year celebration length duration varies depending on where you are. 😮 For example, if you're in China, it's 15 days in a row off. Where as every where else, don't really recognize the holiday, so celebration ends after the family meal.
The holiday/festival I celebrate is Christmas 🎅 🎄 with family and friends. My favorite part is when we can get together to practice traditional customs from presents to having our dinners and appreciating what we have.
@Hope
Hi and thank you for your posts. I am curious what Eid Mubarak Is? and What language? I understand that some members want to speak in their native language. I want to help with that but I am not worthy lol.
Hi everyone, I'm Louisa or broadfemme. As I live in Canada, my favourite festival or holiday is Indigenous Peoples Day, which is June 21 for us. This is a day off work federally and a chance to connect to the Aboriginal Peoples of Canada. I celebrate it by reaching out to my aunties and practicing the traditional teachings of the Anishinaabe, Cree and Metis.
Hope you are all well!
