Thread is open to academy mentors, academy-focused project agents, sub-com leaders in academy sub-coms, and any other leader within 7 cups academy.
Hi everyone! I hope you are doing well. Thank you to all academy leaders who attended our recent academy leadership meeting. Your thoughts and feedback helped inform us of your experience and inform our perspective.
As per the recommendations of the leaders, we are introducing a forum-based activity that hopefully will serve as a place where leaders can interact with each other and include our leaders who were unable to attend our meeting(s) due to time zone clashes.
In Today’s activity let's get to know each other.
Introduce yourself and what you do in the academy
Tell us one thing you are interested in (could be travel, a hobby, a goal etc)
List one aspect of your academy leadership role that you really like
Look through the responses of fellow leaders and see if you have some things in common with them.
You can write as little or as much as you like. The most important thing is to participate (of course no pressure but we would love to hear from you)

I like that I'm able to connect with a lot of listeners all around the globe

We have so much in common!
I am a QLP Mentor too.
I also love music, from classical music to jazz, Indian classical music, Brazilian bossa nova, and great pop singers.
I was a drummer in a marching band! Yes!
I learned to do all kind of "group choreographies" with the band, while keeping playing, like stopping and rotating, marching in circles, marching as spokes of a wheel... I love the sound of brass instruments listened to in person (also in jazz bands and classical orchestras). I played the saxophone, an archetypical band instrument.
I have been an avid book reader since early childhood, another thing in common.
And I love the same about my Mentor role: connecting with the QLP trainees, exchanging experiences and ideas. On top of the emotional connection, the diversity of perspectives and experiences has helped me improve as a Listener. Like you really get to know a subject well when you teach it to others.
It's wonderful to know we share so many things!

Introduce yourself and what you do in the academy - I'm Siren :) an Academy Mentor for the Content Development and Marketing Program, Community Memtor for the Content Volunteer Team, adult Academy Check In and Orientation sessions host and Project Agent which involves outreach
Tell us one thing you are interested in (could be travel, a hobby, a goal etc) - I enjoy swimming and hand-making soaps and oils 🥰
List one aspect of your academy leadership role that you really like - I really love the Mentor role the most. I was a trainee at one point in each Academy program so I know how helpful and encouraging it can be to have a Mentor

No wonder, Louisa, that you received so much gratitude and appreciation from the QLP trainees, because you are so attentive and perceptive, it shows you pay attention and genuinely care about other people. So they feel appreciated, their concerns understood and clarified. Then reflect it back to you. It's your energy that comes back.
Yes, I played the drum! I can be very noisy and annoying with that! Ask my neighbors...
I admire writers a lot, I appreciate the skillful use of language and the creation of interesting stories and situations.
I wish you the best in your pursuit of mastering this noble art, and now in particular, in your upcoming competition.

Hi everyone! I am Rainbow, or you can call me Bow. I currently am an Internship Community Mentor. I get to work with the interns 1-1 in making sure they receive the support they need as they go through the internship. This means I check in to see how they are progressing through their requirements and electives, and answer questions they may have.
One thing I am interested in is sports. I love hockey, American football, and baseball/softball.
One aspect of the Community Mentor role is that I get to work with interns 1-1. I love helping them grow into a stronger, more confident, and amazing intern. It is amazing to see how someone who is shy progress into this more vocal person through time management, leadership opportunities, and their 1-1 chats.
@wonderfulRainbow817 I always admired your work! Woah, you are into football! It makes me think of the FIFA World Cup. But there is a difference between American football and the game they play in the FIFA World Cup, right?
@amiableVision1813, yes in American football they throw the ball towards the end zone instead of "football" as most of the world sees it as a ball being kicked towards a goal. In America that is called soccer.

Hey everyone ! I'm Alioth, an academy mentor for the Content Development and Marketing Program in the honors option :) I've recently joined as a CDM mentor two months ago and it was quite hard at first, but I enjoyed every bit of it ^^
I enjoy playing basketball ! Not in a team, but mostly just for fun. I'm very fond of classical and orchestral music, and I sometimes write !
One aspect I enjoy as a CDM mentor is when trainees would seek help from mentors, and I'm glad we're able to help them with their courses :)
@aliothwyou Wow, you love classical and orchestral music and you sometimes write. We have a lot in common. I love classical music and movie soundtracks. I also write.
The last movie soundtrack I listened to was "Chevaliers de Sangreal" by Hans Zimmer. It is so intense!

My name is amiableVision1813 and I am an Academy mentor in the Internship program. I do weekly check-ins. I ask the Interns how they are doing. I answer their questions, and when their questions pertain to another area of 7 Cups, I give them the names of the people they can ask.

I change hobbies rapidly, but I am recently into mobile games. I like to install and uninstall random Android games to try them out and still save memory storage. The more fun they are, the longer they stay in my phone. The two games I tried out recently are: Rent Please! Landlord Sim and Decor Life-Home Design Game. This is a temporary hobby, though. I might have a completely different hobby in a few weeks.

Hi @yourbuddy30. I also am apart of the internship team. I always get excited when an intern asks a question that I know the answer to because of the fact I know I am helping them along.

Where do I begin 😄 I enjoy museums, swimming, and writing, among other things. Random?

IMHO, teamwork is as significant as individual work. In a program, each task is part of a whole.

That's amazing. I would love to read your book when you finish it; fiction is a treat for me with all the non-fiction and academic reading I do. Thank you, I must submit it in the next few days, and I'm experiencing stage fright, lol!
