1. WW2, I would want to know what life during such a chaotic time would be.

2. George Washington, it would be an interesting conversation and fun to talk military and politics.

3. Surf board would be fun, but not very useful... I'd probs bring a bicycle if thrown back before electricity... that or a book about the development and how to of electricity and mechanics.

  • If you could visit any historical era for a day, where would you go?
  • Not "where", but "when"? There is so many. I'd go for mid-18th century for the salon gatherings, preferably in a country where I understand the language
  • You get to have dinner with a historical figure—who do you choose?
  • Armand Cardinal Duplessis, (=Cardinal Richelieu) or King Lous XI of France - both forward-looking statesmen
  • You accidentally time-traveled to the past with only one modern item. What would be the most useful?
  • My switch-blade knife and proper underwear to be safe
  • If you could relive one moment from your own past, what would it be? (Listeners only)
  • There are plenty good memories. I'd love to ride Valbergais (a trotter recycled as a saddle horse) again when we followed hunts ; playing bridge with my grandparents ; going to at a Têt (Vietnamese New Year's) party at the Communist Headquarters in Paris ; flying in an old propeller plane at night with my father (we were both nervous) ; playing the Celtic harp together with Alain Stivell ; come to think of it, a bunch of concerts that went quite well too; watching operas with parents ; being ecstatic at the unexpected grades I got for a national exam and pranking my family about it ; visiting a 18th century château with my Literature teacher ; taking some good sisters from the convent to visit a Japanese professor who played his bamboo full organ for us ; waking up late in the morning to my father ushering four young men into my bedroom (they were bringing back dinnerware from a party the previous night) ; hitch-hiking in Ireland ; entertaining restaurant dinners with my Latin teacher ; beating my 25-year old stepson at badminton when I was 48 ; meeting my newborn sons ; pranking my husband with a much-needed and huge Xmas gift ; watching my mum run into the rising tide to retrieve her petticoat (1959) without getting her hair wet (because of the "do") then running again to pull one of my little brothers out of the water (I was not that nice back then).
  • You land in the future! What’s the first thing you check?(Listener only)
  • I would first check if my tombstone is where I wanted it to be.

1 I would probably choose to be one of the Harvey girls-working as a hospitality hostess at one of the Harvey Train Stops during the late 1870s. What a miriad of interesting people would I have met?
2 Kit Carson, a young Carson. I would have tried to talk him out of doing what he did to the Navajo and other people of the Four Corners area.
3 A cigarette lighter-I've tried making fire the old fashioned way before, nope.
4 My dad would never allow me to drive his truck, he always said no. He let both of my kids drive it, but not me. It seems like a small thing, but it is kind of representative of his attitude toward me. So I would relive one of those moments when he told me, regarding the truck- absolutely not!, and instead of slinking off into a corner to sink-inside, I would be bold enough to ask him to explain why-and I would hold him to it until he did explain it.
5 I check the mirror to be sure they haven't replaced any of my parts with robotics. Then I try to find out what kind of phone book they are using nowadays so I can look up my great-grandkids.
