Reflect and remember (overdose awareness event)

August 13th Day one event:
Creating a memorial to people lost to overdose can help honor their memory while raising awareness of the overdose crisis. You could create an art piece, plant a tree, light a candle – or simply take a moment to reflect and remember.
Activity: write a short memorial piece on someone you lost, or who is suffering with addiction to show your support.
Reply to at least one person’s memorial to show compassion and support for them as well.

I know that you struggled for a really, really long time.. Since even before I met you and we became best friends. Your presence in rehab made it all worth it. After we lost Phoebe I thought that we could win this fight together. Your Christmas letters and social media posts always made me smile, especially when I was down and out. I miss you sending macadamia nuts and coffee and your artwork. I miss your smile. I miss your hugs (even though we were only allowed to give side hugs back in the day). I've talked with you mom since we lost you.. You were incredibly important to all of us but we are all doing our best to understand. I get it.... I didn't think I'd make it out either. You're away from all of it now, though. I hope that you're finally able to rest and be away from your demons.

Dear friends,
I wish I remembered every moment we had spent together. I wish I had stayed in touch til the end. I wish I knew how bad it was. Everyone I've lost had left behind someone rather it was there kids, significant other, parents. I remember seeing some everyday and some on occasion. Some were best friends some were more like aquatences. One was a wonderful mother who absolutely adored her kids. I'm not sure where or when things got so bad. I remember 4th of July with her. I remember working everyday with her cutting up at every opportunity. I remember my first and only time out on a house boat. I just wish I could have remembered every moment I spent with my friends but the few I remember will always be good memories so thank you for that. Addiction is real and a disease. I don't care if anyone reads this or not this was mostly for me. I'm sorry for the sloppiness.

it was not sloppy at all and it was mostly for you to reflect on a remembered person whom suffers or whom you lost, i enjoyed reading it scarlett<3 thank you so much for sharing it. It was a beautiful memorial!
Dear BIG BROTHER,
you deserved so much better because i could see how you were getting your life on track. you were always a best friend to me and i always felt so safe around you AS IT SHOULD BE IT WAS INDEED. you were an awesome big brother, a role model too. even though life took you into a different path than expected, i learned to be strong because of you and i wouldn't be that way without you. you didn't have to go so soon but God had other plans. Bless your soul, RIP
