Shopping addiction
Recently I have been having serious issues with not shopping. All of the sudden I just can not stop. I can't bring myself to out a few hundred dollars towards my debt or my savings but I can easily spend more than a pay check on clothes or random things I dont need. I have bought a few things that have helped out a little bit but most of it ended up around my room somewhere. I have no idea how to stop myself.
I 100% feel this. It’s hard to stop. I had to cancel all of the credit cards - like completely close the account. It is destroying my marriage because I am so irresponsible with money. I don’t even know why I buy the things I do. I get excited about a package coming and then lose interest in it once I’ve unboxed it and played with it for a little bit. We have so much shit in the house it is starting to look like a hoarder is here - which I suppose I am. Much like you I don’t know how to stop.
I don't have much money so I've never been able to make a serious addiction on spending but I feel like I understand what you mean. There's that instant dopamine when you buy something nice and it feels good to be able to think that you're treating yourself.
One thing that might help you would be to install an app that tracks your finances. For example, the bank that I use (Bank Of America) updates you monthly with how much you've spent. When I have to see those statistics it makes me work hard to spend less.
