Is Porn all or nothing?
In my search for help, I keep finding titles like quitting porn and master bastion for good. Or 30 ways to never use porn again. I'm here because I've been led to extremes, but my question is whether there is a healthy way or format for porn. Does it always lead to addiction?
@FeatheredSerpent33
I think like most things that CAN be addictive does not mean they are addictive for everyone.
The reality is what is happening in your use of something. It is not the possibly addictive item but the persons reasons/ decisions on how they are using something.
Example: Their are people who drink that do not become alcoholics. People who have pain killers prescribed do not all becomes addicts either.
@FeatheredSerpent33 you really made me think a lot, wow. personally, I think it matters a lot on what the addiction means to you. for some people it can be the visual idea, for some people it might be more about imagination, its a lot to branch out on. there are various healthy (for some people) depictions of sexual intimacy too.
i personally think the biggest drawback and cause for addiction to porn is due to the nature of how its depicted. it's unrealistic and extremely glorified, so for someone who is addicted to the visual idea of it, reading books or something else that is conventionally healthy, may not spark the same addiction. so I think it truly depends on the person.
just an opinion though!
While it’s not addictive or a problem for everyone, anyone it is a problem for likely has to abstain from it in any form. I’ve had to be careful to not deceive myself that looking at thirst traps on social media is ok because it’s not technically porn, but it always leads me to want to look at more.
