Journaling for the Holidays

The holidays can be a trying time.  It's not uncommon to be overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, angry, or many other feelings.  I wanted to provide a space where we can journal and, if we say it's all right, provide support to others.  Whether you want to post your journals privately on your profile feed or post them here for others to read, please let me know if there's any type of support that I can provide through the community.

Holiday Journal Reflection

The holidays often make me think about both what I have and what I have lost.

As I've gotten older, I've realized that holidays are rarely just about celebrations. They can also be mirrors, reflecting memories, changes, and the people who have shaped our lives. Some years bring joy and excitement, while others bring nostalgia, longing, or quiet reflection.

This season, I am trying to focus less on what is missing and more on what remains. The conversations that still make me smile. The lessons I have learned through difficult experiences. The people who stayed. The parts of myself that survived challenges I once thought would break me.

I am learning that gratitude and sadness can coexist. It is possible to miss someone and still be thankful for the memories they left behind. It is possible to feel uncertain about the future while appreciating the present moment.

My hope for this holiday season is not perfection or constant happiness. It is peace. The kind of peace that comes from accepting where I am, being gentle with myself, and trusting that life continues to unfold one day at a time.

For now, that is enough.
