Hook Up Apps Addiction
I have been reading recently about the popularity of hook up apps like tinder, grindr, etc, and apparently there has been a spike in sex addiction, some think perhaps because of these apps.
Do you think that hook up apps can enable or create sex addiction?
Do you feel that hook up apps have a positive or negative effect on your life?
What is it about these apps that could be dangerous for someone with a sex addiction?

I read an article recently, it said "Unsurprisingly, many of these hook-ups feel more like cold business transactions than meaningful connections with fellow humans." This really spoke to me, because in some ways I feel like this reaches to the core of what fuels sex addiction. How do you feel about this quote? Do you agree or disagree?

Do you think that hook up apps can enable or create sex addiction?
Yes, they are actually designed using psychological research to make them a form of internet addiction. So that would promote sex addiction I would think.
Do you feel that hook up apps have a positive or negative effect on your life?
I don't use them, never have.
What is it about these apps that could be dangerous for someone with a sex addiction?
Like I said, they are designed to be addictive.
How do you feel about this quote? Do you agree or disagree?
I agree with the quote because...
Supposedly per science... dopamine is responsible for “wanting” – not for “liking”. So the addiction behavior cycle might mainly be about... a drive for ending the "wanting" ... a drive to just to feel normal again for a while.... So it's like a transaction... and after it's done... the objective has been achieved. Anything else is much less important than ending the wanting. No other relational transactions wanted for many people.
But the underlying drivers for using sex as a coping mechanism can be complicated. Some think that sexually addictive behaviors are a part of the symptom and not the underlying disturbance. The drive for sex might be a drive to compensate for emotional challenges. The drive can be really due to an intimacy disorder or stress management disorder... more so than a sex disorder.
... "Sex addiction is often defined by four criteria: out of control, harmful consequences, not being able to stay stopped, and it has a function. ... It is sex used to relieve painful and intolerable feeling states... These include depression, shame, anxiety, boredom, low self-worth and, sometimes, problems hidden in the structure of the primary relationship."
