If a member wants to find answers, then a professional therapist can help the member. Listeners do not provide amateur therapy. I'm not sure what you mean when you write divert the situation. If you would like to divert the chat to another listener, you can go to the Listener Support Room and ask there.

by diverting the situation do you mean providing them with learning material and resources that can help with the addiction ? here in this suncommunity there is a subcategory for that you could give them this link https://www.7cups.com/forum/AddictionSupport_131/SexandPornAddictionSupport_723/ that they might be interested in or you could find some resource online if you want to and share it but i just share the above link lots of usueful and helpful info there and its up to you whether you would like to listen and talk to them about that topic
