MY ADHD
For me, it's things like not being able to concentrate, always needing something to hold or fidget with, or getting overwhelmed by too many thoughts at once. I also catch myself doing random movements, like sitting in weird positions without even noticing. It’s not that I’m trying to be different — my body and brain just don’t always want to stay still.
Sometimes people misunderstand these behaviors or think I’m just being lazy or distracted on purpose. But the truth is, my brain works differently, and that comes with both challenges and unique strengths.
If you’re someone who deals with this too — I see you. It’s not easy, but we’re figuring it out, one step at a time.

I wasn’t diagnosed till my 2nd year of college. By that time, I’d already managed to come up with some compensations, such as short, frequent study sessions rather than trying to cram for hours at a time, choosing the times of day when my brain seemed to work best, mind calming meditations.
I also came up with a theory about why extreme boredom comes so easily. It’s said that “a picture is worth a thousand words.” It leads me to wonder if in many cases, while others are thinking with “inner dialogue,” a person with ADHD may be “thinking” with sequential visualizations and intuitions. If that’s the case, boredom and having a hard time sticking to a subject in a traditional learning environment, makes perfect sense. If one student can encapsulate an entire chapter in a single intuitive flash, while another takes about the same amount of time to absorb a single line in a paragraph, subjecting the ADHD person the same academic pacing sounds both tedious and cruel.
Things can, and usually are more complex than comparing ADHD vs non-ADHD, for example, in my case, dyslexia and PTSD are also mental processing factors.
You are right though. Regardless of our unique attributes of skills and limitations, we all have to figure out how to manage, one step at a time. It may not always be easy, but at times, it’s not always hard either.

Hi, maybe a weird question, but would you like to open a penpal chat together? I just started researching about ADHD in women and im pretty certain that I have that, everything suddenly just starts to make sense... But Just now learning how to deal with it and it feels a bit overwhelming as well
I get overwhelmed often by obsessive thoughts and I made stupid connections to things that give me anxiety. I am coping by meditating, exercising, playing my electric keyboard, socializing with compassionate people, gratitude journaling. Realizing that whether I have ADHD or Asperger’s or just OCD, it is something that I was born with and I am not weak or lazy is helpful.
@lenaalwayshelps ok so my thing keeps glitching and making me resend this same message 100 times 😓.
