Hi everyone I am new here. I am suffering from GAD(Generalized anxiety disorder) from 2 years. I have been selected for PhD programme in physics and have to leave my home and go to a place far from my home town. Felling anxious about it on how to survive with my anxiety there without family support 😓.This will be first time I will leave my family

Hiya @navyStrings5356 welcome to the community!

Woah a Doctoral program in Physics? You seem like a genius to me already hehe. In all seriousness, yesss, PhD is a demanding program and it isn't easy getting selected in one, which goes on to show how gifted you are academically along with your determined interests and hardwork! Congratulations for it. 💛

Understandable how moving away from your hometown and your family, for the first time would be difficult for you, also when you're dealing with GAD, makes sense everything together is making you feel more overwhelmed and anxious about it.

You feel like laying over some thoughts that you're bothered with lately? What's the most worrisome part for you? How is it making you feel overall? 💛 I'm proud of you for reaching out for support!

First of all, congratulations on getting accepted into the programme. Physics is a noble endeavour and I hope you can contribute something to the world. I'm sorry to hear about your anxiety issues, I suffer from it too and went through the exact concerns when I had to move away for my university course. I'd be lying if I say it goes away completely, but try to find something that overpowers your negative emotion, like your love of physics and what you want to discover through your PhD programme. The anxiety does get easier as time goes on though, and once you start to get into your work, you'll find that you'll often forget you have it.

Thank you for your future contribution to the knowledge of mankind and keep your curiosity alive.

Hi! Welcome to 7cups :) First I want to say: Congratulations on being selected for the phD program! That's really something that I couldn't imagine myself doing! Even in the struggle of GAD, you are still making huge progress! Sending respects!

You also mentioned anxiety regarding leaving your family and dealing with anxiety on your own. Your anxiety and worries are totally understandable and fair. Dealing with GAD is indeed tough, especially when we are on our own.

There are some very nice people here with empathetic and kind hearts. Hope you can find some support! Please feel free to leave any message here and we will all try to help! But also I want to say that I wholeheartedly believe in you! You got this!
