A Panic Attack That Changed Everything
I'm a man in my twenties, and not long ago, something happened that completely shook me.
After having two cups of coffee and an energy drink, my heart suddenly started racing — up to 145 bpm. I had trouble breathing, felt dizzy, my chest tightened, and I genuinely thought something was seriously wrong. I ended up in the ER, but all tests came back normal.
Since then, I haven’t been the same.
I haven't had another major episode, but I’m stuck in a weird state:
Chest pressure
Constant tiredness
Numb emotions
And a deep fear that it might happen again
It feels like I'm just existing, not really living. There's a fog over my thoughts. I feel disconnected — from myself, from life.
I finished school recently, but I still feel lost. I don’t know what to do next. My family seems disappointed because I didn’t follow the same path as my siblings. That adds even more pressure.
Lately, I’ve also been getting thoughts that feel disturbing — not because I believe in them or want them, but because my brain latches onto them.
If I hear something intense or emotional, my mind replays it. I start obsessing, even though deep down I know those thoughts don’t reflect who I am. But they scare me anyway.
It’s draining. I try to keep going, but it’s hard.
All I want is to feel normal again.
To wake up without fear.
To feel alive again.
And to live calmly, without this invisible battle inside me.

Im sorry you experienced this.
It was so sudden, so intense, your mind associates a hard and scary time with that moment and you are in a limbo of wondering can it happen again.
And also going through a hard time figuring out what makes you happy.
Its important when the thoughts become obsessive to drown them out with music, take the intensity out of them, don't let them take root or bother you.
Try and train your mind daily by saying, you are safe, you are ok, the panic attack didn't hurt you, you got through it, you overcame, take the fear out of the possibility of it happening again.
Give yourself time to find your passion, your parents care and love you, but youve to live as you see fit.
Genuinely wishing you the best and that you feel better and get through this 💕💜

hey thank you for sharing. i've had similar experiences with panic attacks.
some time ago, i was under so much emotional distress that i actually passed out one morning. i dont remember much, just a sharp pain in my head and then everything went black. luckily my parents woke me up cuz i hit the floor pretty hard.
i recently spoke with my therapist on how to manage panic attacks. the first step is to simply recognize that you're having one. take deep breaths. acknowledging it helps u separate yourself from the fear and start thinking more clearly. by taking a mental stepback u stop yourself from spiraling into more panic about the panic itself. one you've calmed down, u can address the problem.
just know that u are not alone in feeling this way and i hope this advice can help u like it helped me ♥️
