Hello everyone. I have a problem occurs to me very frequently and I would like your thoughts on this. I am always worried or anxious that someone close to me will die. I imagine such scenarios in my head and I get panic and out of control sometimes. I even lose sleep some days because of these thoughts. Does anyone else has similar thoughts or experience?? How do I manage this?

I think many people have such thoughts, and of course, it is impossible to be prepared for this. Perhaps that is why we do not think about it often, because we are afraid. But in your case, I think there is an option that can help. It is probably stupid to completely reject such thoughts, because this is an inevitable outcome, but you need to try to accept them. Imagine life without your family and friends. Without everyone. Without emotions, rationally. How will your life change, what will you do, how will you act. Won't you stop living? Should this freeze your life? Unfortunately, this happens, but it awaits everyone and it is a part of life. We are not here forever and this is normal, so do not be afraid of your thoughts. You will be able to cope with them. Hold on!

I battle with imagined bad scenarios a lot. Some call it catastrophising. I think it is a problem of not living in the present.

If I'm not careful, I can spend a lot of time worrying about what happened in the past (I shouldn't have said x, I should have done y etc) and being anxious about the future (what if xxxx happens? What if...?). Someone said that the present moment is very short, be careful you don't miss it. I think it is very true. If we are always regretting the past and worrying about the future, we run the risk if losing "now". So I try very hard now at being more in the present. I wonder if this might help you too?

Another thing I've had to do was acknowledge my fear. And do battle with the shame around it. Fear is what we experience when we are faced with something scary right now. Anxiety is fear of something that might happen. Fear goes when the scary thing goes. It's healthy and short lived. Anxiety sticks around because the fear that something might happen never goes away. Its terrifying and its OK to be terrified. But do we want to let it take over our lives and thus miss out on "now"?

I don't. So I confront my fears. I do battle with my anxieties and I start to see the wonderful things in life.

You post came when I was catastrophising about something that happened yesterday and what might happen next week. Thank you for reminding me to not slip back. I don't want this habit and all habits can be changed with perseverance.

Persevere with me.

Love, best wishes and anxiety free moments to you.

I understand how you feel. I also sometimes get worried about losing people I love, and it can be really scary. You’re not alone in this. When such thoughts come, I try to remind myself that they are just thoughts, not reality, and I focus on things that make me calm, like deep breathing or listening to something peaceful. Maybe you can also try talking to someone you trust or doing relaxing activities when these thoughts come
