Anxiety made me feel more needy

I never used to be that way. The kind of person who was needy and now I feel like I constantly need emotional support from people. It's almost like I'm afraid of being alone all by myself. I've had every symptoms you could possibly think of so whenever I get those extreme feelings, I feel so needy and dependent on others. And I dislike feeling that way. Because I'm quite aware that I should take care of myself more and I know that people won't always be there for me. But it's just hard to think that way when you're dealing with thousands and thousands of different symptoms on the daily.

@forcefulWatermelon204 It seems you have noticed a change in yourself over time which makes you feel needy and dependent on others. What do you think might be contributing to these changes?

@forcefulWatermelon204

I get this.  I have always been a pretty independent person who could take care of myself.  Who was strong.  But my anxiety has made me feel weak and scared.  And was just thinking to myself this morning that I used to enjoy my time alone because I could relax and do whatever I want.  But I'm not alone.  My thoughts and anxiety are there.

And I was thinking that I'm afraid to be alone with certain people who trigger my anxiety (they're not doing it intentionally - it's me and my head doing it), and I feel "safer" or "better" when I'm with others.

When I'm not alone, I'm distracted by what's going on and I don't have to think about the things that make me anxious.  It's frustrating because it's bad enough that I had anxiety when dealing with certain people and issues, but now I can't even enjoy time to myself because my brain keeps pulling me back into those thoughts, conversations, and "what ifs."
