Hi guys,

Today is one of those days in which i barely can function because my anxiety. I feel really dissociated from everything, as i am watching myself doing stuff and i am not in my body…. Can someone suggest me some techniques that actually work?

I have to learn for my big final exam and i also need to get some quality sleep, but the last days i felt like everything is a dream, probably to protect myself from the powerful and unpleasant feeling i might have. But tbh I don’t want to avoid them anymore, so if you have some suggestions, i would be more than glad to hear them.

Take care of yourselves and take it easy! We’re all in this together

@adventurousBeechwood7579 Coping with anxiety, particularly before an important event such as an exam, is certainly challenging, Bechwood. It's very encouraging that you're looking for strategies to learn how to manage it, as it can be done. I've linked to the 7cups self help guide to panic attacks, which covers cognitive aspects in anxious feelings, including the feelings of unreality you've mentioned; together with well known techniques for managing anxiety through diaphragmatic breathing and progressive muscle relaxation. It concludes with how to anticipate and ward off future episodes through systematic desensitisation, which I see is what you're ultimately aiming for. Hoping that this helps Beechwood, wishing you the best of luck with your exam!

I think doing breathing exercises would be helpful. You can just a few deep breaths and focus on the belly going up and down. Meditation could be useful.
