Yeah, GG guys.. got diagnosed with anxiety disorder, taking two meds for it too. It sucks, you own mind trying to bring you down. Anyways, I'm not gonna tell the boys and my friends about it- they'll start thinking I'm a *** and a mess who can't stand on his two on feet (literally, not exaggerating).

@Axzear

2 out of 10, or appr. 40 million people have anxiety disorders.  I think a great many others are undiagnosed.

As I see it, there’s enough going on in the world, that everyone should be dealing with anxiety.

It reminds me of a meme I saw, “If you aren’t freaking out, it’s clear that you don’t understand the situation.”

I’m not sure it’s any more healthy to live with the absence of anxiety.  It is, after all, connected to our inborn survival strategies.  There are still times in which it helps us stay alive.  Past trauma can lead to problematic anxiety and not many of us are free of that.

I think it’s very much to your credit that you had the courage to get diagnosed and start medications.  A lot of people, instead of facing their anxiety, turn it to rage, or develop other unhealthy ways to deal with it.

I don’t think it’s a case of the mind bringing you down, instead, I think it’s responding to DNA programming, designed to keep you alive.  It’s just that a sensitive mind can be expected to have a stress response to modern stressors it’s not yet evolved to deal with.

Thank you, I just dunno, my anxiety is irrational. It just happens and happens for the silliest reasons once it happens, sometimes for no reason. There are episodes which goes on for hours. I think my past traumas and the environment I grown up in plays the biggest role for this.

I can relate to your situation, for sure. One of my two jobs is teaching self defense. I ang out with veterans and a cop. They are not total alphas like you might think, and they all have their issues, but it is hard to admit my anxiety around them!

It can be very hard to go at this alone, but we are all here for you! You can do this!

Thank you! It sucks to have this disorder, I had an episode where I was constantly feeling this agony for hours straight, and I was completely drained out after it was over. I couldn't take the meds as it was prescribed in times, so I had to wait it out. That was one of the worst feeling I ever had my entire life. I pray nobody goes through this without any justified reason.

I am around kids who are insensitive and spoiled jerks who had it too easy, they don't know anything about what I go through or went through and I'd have admitted it if they asked about it to me but I won't since they'd start messing with me with it or turn me into a trending topic for gossip, they love to go after others and bully them. They'd pester me about it or just take advantage of it callously if I were to reveal it, so I don't feel like I'd ever reveal it for now. I wish the worst for them

I totally get it. I know ot is easy for me, from a distance, to say "please try to remember that everyone is going through something and they are projecting on you." There is likely truth there, but I know it doesnt help in the immediate.

I had started seeking out any community to speak to, and found AI for a bit, but it ended up getting me in trouble in a way I didn't anticipate.

But community can help! Today is day 4 for me on 7 Cups. It may be virtual or online, but I am finding real people here who care. I am just starting to use it as a new community myself. Wr have both taken a big first step! More to come! We can do this!

Mental health definitely has a stigma around it, you’d be surprised how supportive people will be once they learn more about it. Especially if they care about you. You don’t have to make it your whole personality but it is a part of you and you shouldn’t have to feel scared to talk about it.

I agree with Stanley on this. I have started talking about it more, but I also know how difficult it can be to talk openly about it!
