I had a bad experience today *T.W*
I was in a shop just now, it's evening, getting my shoe fixed.. then there was a guy in his 30s who was engaging with me in talks.. at first it all felt normal, he was giving compliments and stuff, trying to give gym advices, it all felt so genuine... but then things started getting weird, and he was acting really weird, dancing, and touching my legs and even after knowing I'm seventeen he was engaging and all.. I still didn't step back.
I felt like he might be genuinely interested in talkin and knowing about the gym, and diet, after sometime he started getting very aggressive and weird while talking... askin for my phone which i luckily didn't had, mentioning his niece and telling me to teach her how to do gym and after sometime i smelled beer in him, and I felt very uneasy and immediately stepped back and distanced myself from him and quickly got home. and talked with my sis about the incident... I feel really dumb for engaging with the stranger for that long.
I should've been more careful and even tho I felt aware during the situation.. I still didn't step back sooner 🙁 even tho it isn't the first time this has happened to me — Idk how I'm supposed to trust someone in public after these kinda incidents.
@fossilfellow please don’t blame yourself at all for this. There’s a lot of conditioning in society let alone any life experience that teaches us to accept and be appeasing towards these types of actions despite them being threatening. Also it’s very normal to be trusting when u have a good heart abd mind and just thought this dude was normal. Why wouldn’t you ?? I’m really really sorry you experienced this and now have this fear over you about people in public. I think it’s good to be aware of men in public sadly and just be mindful. You can’t regret being mindful, you’re way more important than anything else. I hope you can feel safer next time and just remember it’s not your fault at all there’s nothing wrong with you. There’s a lot wrong with a 30 year old creeping on a teenager.
@fossilfellow Sorry to hear that happened to you Fossil. And people should Not be acting like that with you at your age at all or even if you were older, you didn't deserve that. It wasn't your fault so please don't blame yourself, that man was in the wrong. Hope you feel stronger to walk away next time, it can take practice to establish healthier/ stronger boundaries and be more assertive, but it can be done. You deserve to feel safe. 💛
@fossilfellow
Hey there. I'm really sorry about this terrible incident. Being a naturally kind person, it can be hard to gauge people's behaviour from a first meeting. This was a stranger that you didn't owe any replies to. He was drunk. The behaviour however is unacceptable. There's a lot of trash in the name of humans roaming freely in the society. I understand that you were caught off guard during the conversation and it's totally okay to not know how to shield yourself in situations like these. Take it as a learning experience and please be careful of who you entertain henceforth. The world out there is brutal, ready to prey on the innocent.
