Hello everyone,

i’m fairly new to the app and i’m not sure how this all works but i’ll give it a shot. I’ve always struggled with anxiety but recently it’s been getting so bad i’ve become a part time student instead of full time, lost my job, can’t do any hobbies and i’m just stuck. I’ve tried things w my doctors as I have an autoimmune condition which adds gas to the fire of anxiety and my doctors can’t help me. I’m not sure what to do anymore and I feel so stuck.

@bestStrawberries2733,

I to have really bad anxiety. Lately I've had so many things going on and there's nothing that can interest me I'm not learning and I feel stuck. Last month i came up with a idea to write down what's making me anxious and stressed and go into it like why it is making me anxious and stressed and just doing that alone has helped be extremely well. After I write why its causing me to be anxious and stressed I write a saying or a task ( like a fun task ) to help me stop being anxious and worrying about it. I'm not saying this is going to be what's best for you but its worth to give it a shot. Remember time never stops, life never stops and the world never stops. you cants change unless you push your self to change. all things will get better even if it doesn't feel like it will it always does. have a great day!

Welcome to 7 cups!  I’m really glad you are here.  There are a lot of avenues of support here on Cups.  On the forums, I would recommend the mindfulness subcommunity as well as anxiety.  And you might want to check out the disability support subcommunity as well.  You can also browse a list of listeners and connect one on one.  Or there are chat rooms available where you can connect with other members.

Hey BestStrawberries, I am a fellow anxiety sufferer. I also had to do school part time. It took me longer than others, but I eventually got a master’s degree. I actually failed in my last job and had to quit because between my learning issues and the anxiety, I couldn’t keep up. But in time, I was able to find another job that was a better fit for me. I still struggle with anxiety, despite trying different medications and being in therapy, but in the long run I think I will find my way. I hope you will be able to get to a better place. You will find your way too. 💙

Two of the most helpful things I’ve found are aerobic exercise (if you can do it, it really takes some of the anxiety’s power away). Ice pack on the head helps too (a DBT skill). Also, deep breathing in time to visual or audio cues - the worse your anxiety, the longer you have to do it to calm your body down. Feel free to message me more if you want to talk.

Welcome @bestStrawberries2733

I myself also deal with anxiety and I definitely agree that doing breathing exercises really helps with that. Taking the time to focus on your breathing and think positive thoughts as well, can do the trick. Journaling also helps (also as already recommended so I guess I'm agreeing with everyone else's techniques😂) but i think it does show that these techniques are pretty effective. Journaling also can be used as proof of all that youve gone through in time and you can see what normally goes through your mind or the types of things that causes such triggers and maybe find ways to digress. It also can be used as evidence to see how much you've grown overtime! I hope that all the given techniques can help you through this tough time and just remember that everything might seem tough right now, but it's temporary! There is a light at the end of every tunnel. <3
