Overwhelmed.

Crying because I just lost my only support system. I don’t know if I’m strong enough to go through all of this on my own.

@navyTalker2054

You have a support system here.  You are not alone.  What's going on?  How can we all help you?

I’m gonna spare the details, because…

My situation is quite complicated. I’m dealing with a lot of uncertainty and fear and changes that are out of my control. It’s been two months now, and I’m exhausted. I don’t know how I’m going to cope.

@navyTalker2054

Anxiety and control go hand in hand.  If we could just control everything and everyone, there wouldn't be a problem because everything would go as we want it.  I struggle with this daily (and I imagine many others here do as well).

Part of the problem is that we never live right now.  We never live in the present moment.  We dwell on the past - typically all the bad things, all the things that went wrong.  And we think about the future and convince ourselves that all the bad things that happened in the past will happen again in the future.

So, the past is in our mind as a negative, the future is in our mind as a negative, but we are neither here nor there.  We are right now, but we're taking all of our time living in the past and future.

If we can become more "in the moment" then we get a break from our anxiety.  It's not easy.  We all want everything to be fixed NOW.  We want everything better NOW.  That's unrealistic, but maybe we can start with just having some peace and happiness for the next five minutes.

So, for five minutes, don't think about the past.  Don't think about the future. Relax, breathe, and focus on something completely neutral.  For example, look across the room at a piece of furniture.  Take the next five minutes thinking about that piece of furniture. Wonder about it.  How was it made? What materials were used? Did someone make it by hand? Do you think it would look better in a different color?  In a different part of the room?  That kind of thing.

Just to give yourself some space in your mind to rest.  The more space you can give, the more you'll be able to address the problems you're having objectively and calmly.

This was so insightful to read. Thank you! I’ll try. :)

I appreciate you taking the time to respond to me. Now I just have to implement some of these things. 😭

I tend to spiral a lot. 😭

It’s okay. I’m the Spiral Queen. Lol I can take the tiniest issue and turn it into a full-on international event in less than a minute. 😂

It’s hard not to, and it’s hard not to believe the lies we tell ourselves that make our anxiety massive.

Just keep breathing, just keep finding a minute or two throughout the day to get some head space. If you can, take a walk outside or even just stand outside and breathe in some fresh air.

And always reach out here for support!
