Weekly Prompt #26: Write a letter to your anxiety
Welcome back all, I hope you are all being easy on yourself this week.
Last week we discussed: What are your biggest anxieties about the holidays? Thank you to all who participated and shared your thoughts with us. I appreciate you all. I hope all who may read it find it helpful too. If anyone hasn't shared yet or experienced any challenges while trying, please share them here and I look forward to reading and discussing them with you.
This week's prompt: Write a letter about your anxiety. What would you tell it? How would you like it to behave?

@ASilentObserver being blocked by someone I considered a friend
Dear anxiety,
You keep making me uncomfortable. You make my brain run like crazy. Can you please calm down? I know you are right. I know i need to do stuff. I know i am going to move really far from home and i am not ready for it. I know you are just reminding and motivating me to prepare myself in the best possible way. But do you remember what I have been through during last 3 months? Can you imagine going through all that, feeling like your whole life turned upside down and taking a decision to move away from home for valid reasons. Please think about all of this when you try to motivate me next time. Please go easy on me, can you? I know you just want the best for me. But please let me breath. Don't make me so crazy. I promise you, tomorrow I am gonna list down all the things i need to do first thing in the morning. I promise you. Please let me rest now. Look how much i have already done. I have worked on social media manager even though it wasn't the first thing that was important to me. But you rushed me so much. I also listed down stuff i need to get to bring with me. I also thought about stuff i need to pack. So please let me rest now. Calm down yourself. You must be tired too running after me like crazy. Lets unwind together. Lets breath together.
@Goodlistener28 Writing that letter to your anxiety was a caring way to process strong feelings. It sounds like there is a lot on your mind as changes approach. You have taken some helpful steps already in planning and preparing, which often helps ease anxiety. I am glad you're committed to rest now after your hard work. How have you found ways to be gentle with yourself during this transition?
I try to listen to my inner child from time to time. I ask it what it needs when it is experiencing different emotions. Other than that when i feel uncomfortable with emotions, i go take rest, lay down or spend time with family. The later not helping much with anxiety though, increasing it day by day :)
@Goodlistener28 I understand that you are going through a transition that's bringing up difficult emotions. Checking in with your inner child and providing comfort is a caring way of nurturing yourself during challenging times. Beyond resting, spending quality time with loved ones is so important for well-being, though I can understand how anxiety might arise. You clearly have a loving nature and willingness to support yourself through this change.
Dear anxiety,
I don't blame you for being there. I know you are trying to protect me. I know you are there because you were planted there and because we went through a lot. You make me different, compassionate and alarmed about the things i need to take care of or change and to seek help. We aren't crazy, it's totally normal to have anxiety... experience, being visited by anxiety in our situation...but i know I'm doing the best to take care of you, dear visitor.
@intellectualGrapefruit6085 Thank you for sharing this letter. It sounds like anxiety has been a visitor you've known for a while. I am glad you recognize both your strength in seeking help, and that anxiety is a normal experience given what you've faced. You show compassion for yourself through this.
@ASilentObserver
Dear Anxiety,
Would you please just f off and leave me alone. I would like to sleep, without interruption. I would like to eat, without guilt. I would like to go to the store without a panic attack. I would like to drive just once without feeling like I can't sit back in the seat. I would like to just be able to be happy without you cramping on my dopamine. I would like to not want to cry all the time because things are overwhelming.
@Wiltingrose13 It sounds like living with anxiety has been very difficult and draining for you. The feelings you describe of wanting freedom from overwhelm and constant worry are completely understandable. What aspects of anxiety feel most burdensome to you in your daily life?
@ASilentObserver
Well, I guess the most burdensome for me is when my ptsd kicks in with it.
