Work anxiety

Hello everyone,

I took a promotion for work but it requires me to go across the country for 6 months for training before I can start. I’m really anxious about being there and away from my home and family for that long. Has anyone else gone through something similar? How did you cope?

thank you in advance.

I had to go on a business trip for my newer job last year it was a training session  week and compare notes and  things.          Most people from other locations had been in job for the minimum a decade.... I was there 6 months so felt it would be over my head or hard and I would need help etc....

ALL my fears of what could happen were not realized and found I had dealt with more then several others who were " seasoned" employees .... I think we have fears about any situation that is different and out of our comfort zone.

Now the being apart from family and such for however long the training is may be hard but i think it is important for you to know you can do it... and your family can step up in your absence too.    For many time away reminds the people in your life of the little things you do they had just never thought about who would do if you did not etc.

Something a little bit similar happened to me, when I was in the other corner of my country, helping my boss start in a new location. It was only two weeks. Now I think of it as one of the most memorable and interesting experiences of my whole professional life.

Half a year is quite a lot of time. But surprisingly many people share that experience. Like sailors going for a cruise or military men rotating to overseas locations. Six months is usually enough to know if a new university is the right choice for us, or if our new relationship works fine.

I understand there must be many emotional, physical and organizational challenges with that. But I believe you can also treat it as a great adventure and it can give you some new look and some feeling of refreshment in your life, and you may come back as good as new 😊
