Work anxiety
Hi everyone,
I’m new here so I’m a bit nervous.
I made a huge mistake at work recently and last week was screamed at by my boss for the first time. To some this may seem like nothing but to me it’s rendered me completely useless. I sometimes can’t even get out of bed and have a constant sick feeling in my stomach. I want to leave immediately but my parents would kill me as that’s not what adults do, but I can’t face up to it anymore and I’m really on the edge and don’t know what to do. Thought I would give this a try to make some friends who understand and support
Thank you
@DanHalen
Hi Dan,
Everyone makes mistakes. It's what makes us human. We make mistakes, then we learn from them.
I hope you feel better soon. I'll be cheering for you. 💖
Hey, Dan!! 💙
I am sorry to hear that you have to go through all this suffering. I understand. You are new here, u don't know what to do. This is an unknown territory. I went through the same thing. But I found the right people to guide me at the right time. You will too. Actually, you have. If you are facing trouble, you can text me. I will try my hardest to be there for you. U will find friends and people to support you over here in no time. And even I feel at edge at times. But I accept it that it is alright to feel this way and I say this to myself every now and then - this is just a phase. It happens but I can get it together. I will take small, short steps and find out what is troubling me and fix it. I am great at that job. And just like that, you may never know when it even ended.
I hope that helped.
Take care and stay hydrated. 💙 🌸
Laters!! 😊
I used to feel the same too. I guess its just a matter of acceptance. You cannot undo what has been done. But you can accept it and let it go. It doesn’t define who you are. Mistakes happens all the time. Its how we learn. We cannot control how people react. We can only control our own. I know its tough but know your not alone Dan! 😊
Hi, i hope and pray that you have started feeling much better now. i have learned from Dr. Andrew Huberman that visualizing the distressed scenario and facing it and not running away from it will make it better and i have experienced and done this myself. it will also decrease the emotional load of the situation.
everybody is a human and make mistakes and you as well. it will get better with time.
sendiyou massive support

Something struck me from what you said. “That’s not what adults do.”
Yes, and no. There will always be hard times, and tough moments, and mistakes will be made, and people will yell. We can’t run away from those things. Because when we leave one, we will inevitably find another one in the new place.
However, it is very adult to want to take care of yourself and not stay in a bad situation. Is this boss someone who yells at everyone all the time? Is the work environment, toxic? If so, that is probably not an ideal situation for you to be in
It’s so hard to determine what is and isn’t “being an adult.” You have to make the right decisions for you, you have to keep yourself safe, happy and well. And you do get to make the choice whether you stay in an environment that makes you unhappy or not. If you don’t want to go back to that job, The best thing you can do is apply for another job somewhere else, get that job and then leave. Then, your parents will see that you made an “adult” Plan. You wanted to leave, you found a new job first, and then you left. Because you are taking care of yourself.
And if it was all just a mistake at work and it’s not that big of a deal, it will pass. And you will go to work and have better days.
Inevitably, you have to put yourself first.
@DanHalen Hello Dan, thanks for sharing and welcome! It takes a lot of courage to share. It sounds really painful. Being yelled at like is bound to shake you. No one can say your experience is “nothing” or "it's just work". I tend to get very anxious at work for a lot of delicate interactions, with situations much less severe than yours. I found that there is no skipping the emotions unfortunately. I had to go through it to learn how to deal with it. Give yourself some time. You’re not useless, even if it feels that way right now. I hope you can be gentle with yourself as you would be to a friend. And you are definitely not alone in this. I think most of us have been in similar places, and we are all here to listen and support each other.
