img-2218_1734505287.jpegsometimes my anxiety comes in the form of overwhelm. one technique that helps me manage my anxiety in a profound way is mindfulness of thoughts & reframing anxious thoughts using positive self talk.

here are a few examples of ways you can challenge your thoughts then they start to overwhelm you.

does anyone else find this helpful? which one of these affirmations do your gravitate towards or stand out to you?

@Kait

"I just need to focus on one step at a time."

"Not everything is in my control."

these two affirmations get me through many rough spots and challenge though times!

I love these, it's so much easier said than done, but saying these things to ourselves consistently over time can really have such a profound effect on reducing overwhelm :)

I like a lot of these, and this is a great visual.  That would make a great t-shirt actually :)

I sometimes journal about distressing situations, and try to identify thought distortions along with them, which is part of Cognitive Behavior Therapy.  Thought distortions are like 'black or white thinking', 'magnification', 'fortune telling'.   Afterwards its helpful to try to apply a positive thought to counter the original negative thought, and your list would be helpful for that reframing for sure.

thanks :)

Yes this would be a cool t-shirt :) I love your point about how journaling can help us recognize our distortions. It takes a lot of mindfulness to be able to identify our thoughts & know what to tell ourselves to challenge negative thinking patterns. It sounds like you have a lot of self awareness! 🍀

The visualization is amazing as I can identify with all of these. The one affirmation that stands out for me is I am doing the best I can as this reflects my personal and professional life. Thank you for sharing.
