It's been affecting my mental health too. What I've had to do is stop reading the news. It doesn't make anything better politically, but it keeps me from panicking. I hear enough second-hand, from my coworkers and my mom, that I can keep some news coming in, without completely overwhelming myself. Does that make sense? <3

You might just have to try to distract yourself.

I’m so sorry to hear you’re struggling in light of the chaos that is politics right now but know you are not alone in that struggle. It has taken a toll on me as well and have found, as someone else already suggested, that avoiding news and gossip surrounding politics helps significantly in maintaining some my sanity and general wellbeing. Surround yourself with people who can provide support and comfort during this time and know there are always going to be people here who are happy to talk through these hard times with you. Stay safe❤️

It's totally normal to feel like this, but don't let it make you numb to what is happening. It's ok to preserve your mental health, but it's important to stay informed - through reliable sources - and not turn a blind eye to what is happening.

Now it's the time to make our voices be heard. I personally find the action helps us contrast the paralyzing fear. Join a peace movement near you, look for strength and courage in community. We're not alone and powerless.
