Carpophobia - fear of wrists/veins
I have no idea how this started but around middle school I started to become more squeamish about the idea of wrists and veins. It wasn’t as bad back them. But when late middleschool/high school got around I was completely terrified of them. It got to the point I couldn’t do simple tasks like washing dishes or holding an object. Just thinking about them makes me feel extremely uncomfortable. Lately it’s thankfully calmed down a bit, but it’s still a pain to deal with. Does anyone else deal with this?

Hi! I have never heard of carpophobia but it sounds like it must be a really hard thing to have especially when it interferes with daily tasks such as washing up
I am glad to hear that is has calmed down a bit and that you are making progress, that is amazing! I really hope that it continues to get better overtime and that you have supportive people around you to help.

Hi! I think I've kind of developed this as well, I don't think it's as bad as what you've been experiencing, but since I stopped self harming and got myself better I've been so self conscious of my wrists to the point where I won't allow myself to wear bracelets or even a watch. It's sometimes a bit overwhelming because it makes me feel really vulnerable and uncomfortable.
@bubblingSunrise4020 Hello! I'm sorry you're experiencing the same thing. Mine also developed from a kind of similar situation as yours, so I hope I can help in some ways? If you were even looking for that pft-
I find that wearing long sleeves, running my arm under warm water, or just covering my wrist with my palm sometimes helps with the uncomfortableness. If it gets too bad distracting myself with songs, videos, etc. works as well! Obviously, this is not professional advice and might not work for everyone but I hope it still manages to help you in someway ^^

Hi! Thank you, that does help! I think covering my wrists with my hands helps me too, but I might try running them under warm water or distracting myself with music next time :)
@tellaph0ness that's interesting, i definitely have this feeling of being squeamish about wrists and veins, but i didn't realize that wasn't normal until now. it is not quite as extreme for me, but the thought definitely makes me uncomfortable... and good for you that it's getting better
I have a similar phobia. I would suggest looking away from areas with veins. Looking at the person's face or looking downwards has helped for me. It sucks but I promise that things will get better, wishing you nothing but the best.
