Always thinking that people are talking about me ???

hi, i dont know how to explain this but i will try

i have a problem with thinking people, well someone ive had trouble with before is always talking about me or laughing at me for example once i thought this person was laughing at me when i walked past but i found out the next daythey werent even laughing at me so i know i can be wrong .

for example the other day i was sitting at lunch at school one of my friends who sits with us i guess got a photo from this person ive been talking about

( i had a feeling they were sending photos because i could see this person sitting with their friends like 30 meteres away across the school yard )

anyway i immeadietly thought they she was ( the girl sitting like 30 meteres away ) was zooming in and taking photos of me just because i was sitting there athough this kind of sounds unlikey because like my friend sitting with us looked like she sent one back of either herself or her zooming in on that person .

anyway i cant stop overthinking it

why i could be wrong

1. we were sitting so far away and i was kind of sitting out of her view

2. the person sitting with us kind of seemed like they were sending a photo back of her zooming in on the person that sent the first photo that made me think they were just doing that as a kind of like hey i see you kind of thing because they are friends

Reasons why that person was sending photos or talking abput me ( not the person sitting with us ive never had a problem with that person the person sitting like 30 meters away from us )

1.

the person sitting with us was also sitting next to someone who seemed to get excited when the person sittig with us which made me think adre they sending photos relating to me anfd they find it funny because i cant see them

2. ive had problems with the person sitting like 30 meteres away from us before

because ive had problems with this person before if i hear this person talking but i cant really here what they say , laughing with other people of kind of look over at me i always feel like they are talking , laughing about me even if they are already in a conversation or something

why do i always feellike they are talkingabout me even when i explain this to other people they always think that is unlikely that they actually are talking about me when i walk past and i know ive been wrong before so i dont know

Thankyou So Much

@simplyyoliviaa1511 Hi, if they were talking about you ( which I really don't think they were ) then who cares? Tell yourself that , what they are doing can not affect you. Some people are childish and if they want to waist there time making fun of goodness people then what kind of person does that make them? Honestly I don't think they were talking about you, but I know how paranoia can make us think otherwise. Don't worry so much about the small things ok :) concentrate on your wonderful life with all the people you care about around you. Best wishes

@simplyyoliviaa1511 Its unlikely that they were talking about you but not impossible. Even so what I find helpful is the thought that what they are doing is not about you or involving you so although these thoughts are coming it is best to let them come and go again, becasue it is more likely that they were just in their own buble together maybe tking selfies or silly pics and sending them to each other or maybe just messaging each other and having fun. It doesnt matter, these thoughts can be hard to let go of but working on letting them go can help to make it easier when they come up in the future. Its common to worry about other people in that setting but its important to just not let it get to you unless they physically make an effort to involve you.

I think you're on the right track listing rational reasons in writing or even just in your head for them not talking about you. I used to and still sometimes think people are talking about me until I remind myself how self-obsorbed most people are. Which doesn't always work because I was picked on in junior high rather harshly but even in that instance I try to remind myself even if they were talking about me it's not someone I should care about their judgement. Today I only care about the judgement of those that are accepting and loving people who want what is good for me instead of fearing differences and putting down people to build themselves up. I find those that spend the most time talking about others in a negative light are the most insecure people there are. (Either that or are something like lawyers and paid to do so. lol)

If you keep examining your own thoughts like this I think you'll eventually become less concerned over it. Being outside among people to practice that can help more than avoidance of people. You may also find mindfulness audio in the path menu helpful for refocussing your attention elsewhere instead of on what other people seem to be talking about.

@CoinFountain Thankyou so much , I think thinking everyone is talking about me all the time comes from past experiences, even though I think people are talking about me I've been wrong before

This sounds like you get stuck on thoughts that make you feel bad. Sometimes our mind goes over unresolved issues to try and mend it, but this often has the opposite effect. I'd really think that you'd greatly benefit from the course called getting unstuck, which is free and only takes 20 or so minutes to complete. It's under the heading of training :) Hope you're ok.

@Sherbetblooms

Is that on the app you're referencing? On my PC chrome browser page it's under self-help guides in the path menu. I agree that getting unstuck one is good. The "7 Cups of Tea" guide on same page is also a good overall starting point for a lot of things.
