Anxiety

I feel like my life has no purpose everyday seems like a long time.I want to feel alive. My childhood was a mess due to my anxiety. I used to hide my face from people because I thought I looked ugly and thus I developed social anxiety. I didnt and still dont like people looking at my face. I would get panicky when I stood up and delievered a speech or had a presentation at school. I fear judgement and thus I had very few friends. Due to my stress I developed a scalp condition where my scalp is dry but also has extra sebum. It has been a real pain in the ass to manage my hair. When I went to school I would wear a headband and tried to hide it. I grew isolated because of it. It took forever for me to get ready. When I would go out I would have mental breakdowns because my hair was so messed up.

Also I want to talk about my fears. I am afraid that my jaw operation messed up my jaw and thus my face became deformed. I have BDD because of it. I also am afraid that a combination of my anxiety, medication and depression messed with my brain and somehow I became dumbed down. I used to be funny and somehow my humor went away Im afraid it

It might be helpful, if you don't go outside much, to go outside and breathe in the fresh air. It might help to expand perspective to look at trees, birds, the sky and focus on external factors and take some slow deep breathes. Like you, I feel like my days are very long, and I'm not happy with my current SSNRI medication. They're hard to tolerate, and I know what you mean about feeling dumbed down.

As I'm getting older, I'm self-conscious of my hair, as well. My hair is thinning in the front, and I look like Larry from the three stooges if I don't do something about my hair. So, I put a lot of 'product' in my hair to hold the sides down and give more body to the front. I'm sure in a few more years, there will be nothing left in the front even though I've spent a lot of money on rogaine over the years.

Anyway, ultimately, you can only try to control how you respond to things. You can't undo genetics. Humor can be practiced and return. Medications can be varied, and there are alternate forms of therapy which are helpful too. It's the root of anxiety to think something is permanently wrong with us, and if it is, then we can do anything about it anyway except keep moving forward. If you don't like your hair, then maybe you could look into a stylish hat?

Hey, Danygurraleal, we are here to support you, it sounds like the situation you are in is very, very challeneging, and although it's very bleak right now, things will get better. You mention you had a surgery that may have messed up your jaw, have you talked to your doctor about how you feel about it? Another thing you mentioned was that your sense of humor has gone, and unfortunately, that tends to happen when exeperiencing depression, however, I can assure you that it can come back, you just need to take things one step at a time, and focus on bettering yourself. We are here to support you, and guide you through these difficult times <3

It seems a lot of people are worried about how they look because theyre really worried about what others think about them. Certainly, those who judge another only on looks seem like shallow, superficial people and those are not the kind of people I really want to have as friends.

Now, one reason why I view romantic relationships as fickle is because theyre often actually shallow pursuits in todays world, are formed and based mainly on looks, and are generally unstable due to their mainly emotional nature.

Just my two cents. 🙂
