Anxiety about housing/moving
Hi,
I am feeling a bit stressed about moving for school. I didn't want to move before but found out how early our classes are which is very rough for a 50 minute commute. I started contacting apartment listings that are closer but I feel a little bit annoyed/embarassed at myself for missing my chance to room with other students who are living together now and may have to live with more random people. :( I have housing now, I just feel stressed about the commute and feel anxious about finding something soon even though really I can take my time since I still have housing.

It must feel quite stressful to find new housing in a short time. Since you still have a place to stay, no need to push yourself so hard for it. Missing the chance to live with people you are familiar with is a pity, but it also opens up a chance to meet and live with new friends. In any situation, take your time. Wish you great school life.
@Daydreamer47 seems like you are worried that living in your present place might make impact your study negatively since there is more chance that you might miss the classes if you live further away from the school. you also sound disappointed that you lost your chance to live together with your fellow classmates. I can understand that it makes you anxious that you might be missing something. however, there is still time and I am sure you might be able to find other new mates who will be more than happy to join you. and best part is you can take time while making sure that you are with the like minded people. you´ve got this. goodluck!
To be honest with you, housing stuff have always given me huge stress. I don't know why, maybe because my parents have always taken care of that and I was scared to move on my own. So when I got my own small apartment, it was in a poor area and looked just awful. Thanks to my mom that for window replacement she advised people who only needed to come and take care of everything for me. Same was when I needed new doors. So that all was quick and stress-free. Now I feel relieved and generally much better. So I think that you just need to talk to you mom about your fears.
@Daydreamer47- take a breath and realize you have time to find housing closer to school. Only life experience I can share is often I have gotten along better with strangers than people I already knew. Best of luck to you- and enjoy your classes.
As an update, I am still really struggling with this and feeling very depressed tbh. I visited one apartment and really didn't like it, but I may need to settle for it idk. I do have a little bit of time, but I had to give my notice to leave October 1st, so there is in fact a time crunch there. I had two people that really sounded good that both kind of bailed. One was a young person with a spot in a house, but she cancelled our call once and then stood me up the second time. Another is two young people, but they never responded to my messages at all. I am not seeing many new posts right now. I am hoping more will come up in the next week or so or I may have to settle for the place I don't like much.
