Anxiety and friendships.

Background: I have recently come out of a 9 and 1/2 year relationship. I now live on my own in a small flat. I can't drive and where I work is over an hours walk away.

Bascially because of the last sentence I now feel like a burden to my friends since moving in to my new flat, before when I still lived in my ex boyfriends house with him and his parents my friends were more than happy to give me a lift. But now it feels different. I feel like a burden. I am not further away from people than I was in my previous residence but people all the same are reluctant to give me a lift. Not ALL of my friends are like this, but I am beginning to see a different side of certain people.

So this has made my anxiety worse and I feel like I'm becoming paranoid. I have trust issues because of my previous relationship so I'm having a really hard time trusting people. It's becoming harder and harder to trust peoples intentions, I am finding it hard to decern if people are telling me the truth or not, like they will say something to shut me up or I don't know if their friendly banter is banter or not.

I did ask one of my friends if he thought I was annoying and he said no, one part of me is happy but the larger part is certain he just said that to avoid confrontation or an awkward situation. And I know that if I were to ask this on a larger scale I would get the same results.

I think it's starting to affect my work because I'm afraid to ask for a lift in because of rejection. I can get a bus to one of the sites but not the other.

I'm just stuck with how to process this all. I'm sorry if this is all over the place. I'm not very structured at the moment.

I forgot to add sorry, I live in a very rural part of England. We don't get ubers or lyfts. If worst comes to worst I can get a taxi.

That's pretty awful. It's very upsetting when you feel you can't trust your own judgements on things. It's hard not to take it personally, but it's probably more of a case of people have their own crap going on as opposed to having a feeling any particular way regarding you.

How feasible is it to get a learners permit and start getting yourself mobile? An automatic car is about as difficult as playing Mario Kart. In my mind, i'd find asking people for lifts to be way more anxiety-inducing than learning to drive.

@7CupsAgo

I am in the process of getting my provisonal drivers lisence and getting my own car. I just need to juggle that and pay all my bills.
