Feel out of control
Hey all,
Going through a rough time at the moment and feeling really overwhelmed and not in control of my emotions or reactions. I've tried lots of things to help and now I don't know what to do, feel panicky and not in control.
I'm working from home at the min which is isolating, I don't have much of a support network and only by phone as I live so far from everyone. Work is relentless and stressful and I'm working long hours. I also made a mistake at work last week, nothing major but I'm now having to deal with someone who is nit picking and trying to make it out that it's a really big deal when it's already sorted, she won't get off my back.
On top of that a friend of mine passed away on Thursday due to a tragic accident, very unexpected and it's hit me hard. I was very emotional when I heard and between that and worrying about my job I couldn't stop crying.
It doesn't really sound like much but I just feel so low and not in control of myself, I'm overthinking constantly and reacting weirdly to things, taking everything personally and doubting myself.
would love to hear your thoughts and tips as to how you manage things and calm yourself down, anything I try just isn't working :(
First let it all go If you want to cry if u want to scream if u feel like breaking sth do all of that just take it all out of ur system ,don’t keep things intact cuz they will explode badly , u said u r having some work issues n ur friend passed away recently so no wonder u r having all of these emotions, in a matter of fact its normal for u to have such emotions its okay to admit that ur life is shitty at the moment thats 100% fine so dont be too hard on ur self . I personally would advise u to go to the gym or engage in any physical activity to take all of that energy out of ur body , or get any hobby that well fill up ur time . Also do some self reflecting look at ur self n see what things u dont like about ur self n think of why u dont like them then see if u can change them n explore ways to do that n if finally u cant change these things just make peace with them n accept them . Make peace with urself n then u will have peace in ur life , hopefully this can help u <3
@fruitpunchsamuraii thank you for your reply, I think the gym would be a big help. I was going regularly but we are in lockdown again so it's been closed. I think I have a lot of pent up emotions which need a way out. I'm definitely going to take your suggestions on board as I think it's really useful advice, much appreciated
Hey It sounds like a whole lot to be handling all at once. Feeling out of control can be such a scary stressful feeling, I've been told it can be helpful to try to do more things that you CAN control, to build up that confidence again. Even tiny things. Im sure its frustrating to have that person at work making things more difficult for you especially because you said whatever happened is already sorted. If it helps you could check in with your management or supervisor or other coworkers to see how they think you're doing, it sounds like you work super hard for them and that this person is just making things hard for no reason. We all make mistakes. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, I can imagine how that must feel to lose someone so suddenly and tragically. You are allowed to cry and grieve, your response is so valid. Take your time. Be patient and gentle with yourself and your heart. I does sound like a lot, and its only natural for our bodies and minds to react in confusing ways if its just too much. I also do a lot of this and I totally feel how hard and frustrating it is do feel out of control and reacting weird and doubting everything and all of that. Be kind to yourself. You're doing so much and working so hard and experiencing so much all at once, plus this isolating pandemic, just getting through the day is a huge deal. Sometimes I find doing things one thing at a time helpful. With work or just in life, one hour at a time one minute at a time one day at a time. Take care of yourself okay?
