First time being away from my family and having a hard time coping

My family is who I rely on whenever I'm having an anxiety attack or episode and tonight is the first night I'm away from them. It's tough. I feel lonely and alone and left with my thoughts. I even had an episode earlier and had to figure a way to deal with it by myself (deep breaths and anchoring). Has anyone had similar experiences and how did you overcome the feeling?

@waverid3r

Probably it's not exactly the same experience but right now I'm feeling very alone without my family as I won't see them for holidays. At least calling them helps me a lot so I feel much calmer. But as long as we can't be on the phone for ages I'm trying guided meditations and yoga. It takes time to take anxiety under control but eventually it happens (even if for a limited time)

@compassionatePond That's great. I've been wanting to get into guided meditations too but I always find my mind scattered and racing. Any tips?

@waverid3r there is always a moment in meditation where you feel overwhelmed by anxiety and all kind of thoughts pouring into your head. Im always trying to wait a bit till calm breathing and the concentration on how my body start working on me. This moment of anxiety is scary but eventually it fades away. So I guess the tip is not to give up immediately saying oh no, I wont calm down, my anxiety will forever be here.
