Frustrated by friends and anxious
I was in an emotionally abusive relationship that just ended last Tuesday- I was used for money, and was expected to drop everything and everyone for this guy. He would belittle my feelings and tell me they're invalid because sometimes I couldn't explain why I felt a certain way. He would never listen to me when fought, blaming me for our constant arguments. We never found resolutions because he just would talk over me. I was in another emotionally abusive relationship before this one, but this was much worse.
I'm angry and so hurt that I gave it my all and was honestly in it for the right reasons and was sucked in by his trickery. My friends saw through him, and now they pretty much just act like it was no big deal. A few of my friends are single and get mad when I say that I hope I eventually meet someone nice. I'm tired of listening to people and their problems, but most of the time I can't really get people to listen to me. I've got a past history of getting into relationships when I shouldn't, but I learned a lot this go around.
Is it a crime to eventually want to be happy with a man? I don't think so.
@Lesleya22 I don't think it's a crime to want to be a relationship with a man, but I think maybe your friends do not want you to be in emotionally drianing or abusive relationships when the guy does not treat you with respect. And perhaps this desire for a relationship might make you enter into relationships with not the right one just because you want a realtionship. I am not you, so I realize I may not see the whole picture. For me, I stayed in some emotionally draining relationships far too long just because I did not want to be alone or lose this person. But now that I am alone, I realize this is for the better and I have so much more freedom to do what I want. I also deep down desire for a future partner that loves and understands me, but I also realize that without that, I can still be happy. I can only speak from my own experience but I hope you first develop the best relationship with yourself because others can always come and go.
@luxx454, I know they worry but this go around I am definitely going about things differently. I don't care right now about a relationship, and I'm okay with not knowing when I will be. My problem was that I thought these guys were looking for what I was, but then learned they weren't and they were in it for their own reasons that were really emotionally damaging.
I have plans pretty much every weekend (or every Saturday at least) this month with friends, so I think I'm off to a great start!
@Lesleya22 Ah no it is emotionally draining to realize that someone you were in a relationship with had different intentions than you thought, but I do think you also realize it was their own issue. No hanging out with friends is a great way to have fun and hopefully be emotionally restored! Hope everyhting goes well :)
