Generalised Anxiety Disorder

Hi, I have been suffering with anxiety since I was in early secondary school probably further back. Somedays I can't do anything with my Anxiety or go anywhere. A sign of me having anxiety is 1. I click my tounge off the roof of my mouth and 2. I tap everything, door handles, chairs, remotes anything, that's a big drainer with having anxiety even putting on clothes I have to do it right or something bad will happen and if I go out a door and I tap it, I need to tap it so many times and if I don't I feel like something bad will happen. I also will spend about 20-30 minutes each night checking stuff that's off or locked to make sure and I can sleep unless I know everything is off and locked. That's just my Anxiety part, I used to have panic attacks twice a day but now I have them maybe once a week or twice week depends on the week or what happens.

Thank You.

@Lilith805 I'm not an expert, but I know someone (in real life, not on 7 Cups) who always had that feeling, "I have to do it right or something bad will happen" and who spent a lot of time checking stuff, but the diagnosis was obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), not generalised anxiety disorder. Treatment with a combination of medication and therapy worked well, and those feelings are no longer a problem in their case.

I hope you are having treatment from a professional who has diagnosed your condition with care, and who understands how to help you recover. Chatting to a listener here at 7 Cups who has an understanding of anxiety disorders and OCD might also be helpful. You can search for experienced listeners on our Browse Listeners page.
