How to deal with it?
Hello everyone, well first of, I'm 18 (almost 19) years old and currently enrolled on an university studying Graphic Design.
I'm not even sure if what I have is anxiety, but I'll give an actual situation I'm going throught right now, I'd be very pleased to hear other's opnion. I have a certain work to do, I've got to model something with foam... But I just can't do it. When I think of starting to work on it, seems like even breathing become difficult and I get very, very nervous, not to mention how much my stomach starts to hurt, head feels light somehow, and I end up not doing anything and letting it slide so 'I'll do it another day'. And that's now just with work, but sometimes even when I try to hangout with some friends I feel this very strange feeling, and the same problems with breathing, stomach and so on, I always end up convincing myself that I can't do it, and so it stops there. I don't know if there is a day that I didn't felt like this, as it carries all the way back to school...
I just don't know what to do with it anymore, I always end up feeling very depressed, even thought people say 'Just stand up and do it!' or 'Go out more!' it's now that easy, I just can't... Sorry if this was that long, I tried to make it as short as I could.
Hey Gabby!
Thanks for sharing! I believe you - it really sounds like a difficult thing to experience, especially when its affecting different aspects of your life, including activities you enjoy. Im not a medical professional, so I cant make any kind of diagnosis on anxiety, but I think it is definitely something you could find support and help for. Youve described it well here writing it out - do you think it would help to sit down and talk with one person you trust about these symptoms? I get that asking for help can be scary, and it may help to plan it out in advance and to let someone know who can be there with you and/or hold you accountable for getting the assistance you deserve. And its wonderful that you are studying in university - it can be challenging and a lot of work for sure, but most of the time there are also great resources available right on campus for free or for a student rate. And were always here for you too :)
Hi @GabbyMS,
First of all, congrats on getting into university! that is a great achievement in itself. As to what you are going through, yes, it does seem like you are suffering from anxiety. However, I am not a professional to give you the diagnosis and this observation is poorly from training I have received as a listener at 7cups. When we step into a new chapter, it is normal to feel anxious because everything is new and unknown. This may cause you to feel unmotivated and physically restrained. If you think it would be helpful to talk more about it, please feel free to connect with me one-on-one. I'd love to be there for you during this strange, new period of your life. I believe in you and you will get through this.
