Hello,

i'm new here and still figuring out what's ok and what's not ok to say so please excuse me if i do something wrong.

I am a masters student studying in a foreign country and i spend most of my time in my lab alone and then go back to my room with someone i don't get along well with. I've just been spiraling down and down due to this and my brain has been re introducing me to all of my past experiences and it's tearing me down. I cry more than i ever have in my life and even if i don't, i end up reliving one of my childhood abuses or maybe even just putting an overly negative spin on some past expereince and have a hard time pulling away from the thought.

i want to say so much more but my greatest fear is being a burden and hogging attention, but i also don't know what to do to deal with my problems.

i just want to move forward but maybe brain won't stop becasue it's trying to tell me something in a language i just don't understand. i just don't feel good right now.

@GreySmiles Being in a foreign country is tough on its own. I understand the feeling of isolation, and how that feeling can be heightened because you spend a lot of time alone and then with someone you don't like. Is that person your roommate? Can you change rooms to be with someone you do like? As for the past experiences, that also sounds rough. Have you made any friends in this country?

@GreySmiles. Is there a way you could get out more? Coffee shop or even for lunch . Invite a callesuge for lunch or coffee. If you have breaks with others join the convo. You have a lot to adjust to, make self care part of it
