Incredibly scared of school
I know that I shouldnt be afraid of school. I know perfectly well that school and education are important for my future, but what can I do, my fear is too huge to beat those reminders. Im just so scared. The atmosphere in school is so scary for me. All those teachers, students, lessons...even thinking about it makes me shudder. Whats more is I have depression, so going o school is like a five mile hike uphill.
I just cant do this. Its too much. I want to be able to enjoy school, but I seriously do not know how. I have tried. I want to be able to like going to school so I wouldnt weigh such a burden. I want to be a successful person, yes, and I know I couldnt without education. But honestly! Going to school makes me feel really, really scared and sad. What is more important: my mental health or my future? How could I choose between the two?
I am only 13 and I am a second year in middle school. There is still a long way to go and its basically killing me so much. I sometimes would beg my parents to send me to a homeschool instead, but of course, I couldnt expect anything else but a refusal. I tried talking to them but what they replied was only ‘just be patient or ‘you must face it. Easier said than done.
Besides, you see, I am too ambitious and perfectionist to be in school. Right here I have so many competititors and it feeds my fear even more. I am afraid of failure more than Im afraid of anything else. I have no intention on going to school. For me, the lessons are uninteresting and arent going to be used when I work later. For me, school is not school, school is a dungeon. School is a place where you torture and brainwash little children.
What should I do? Ive been like this for days. Im just so...so terrified and upset. I cant even eat. I cant sleep. I want to feel okay again. But I cant. I can not.
Hi @Hydrangea03
The school years are really tough and we all go through times where we feel like a very small fish in a very big ocean. The feeling is not great but it's pretty common to some extent or another. With regards to how you deal with this, I agree with @FallingCrescent. Have you discussed this with family or a school counsellor?
