Morning Anxiety and Mindfulness
So lately every morning I've been waking up with anxiety. When I'm having a lot of stress during the day, it tends to pop up the minute I open my eyes in the morning. And that's a crappy feeling. I mean, the first thing you feel when you wake up is scared, nervous, worried, frustrated, etc.
This morning was not any different. But as I was laying in bed, I decided to try very hard to be mindful. To be RIGHT NOW. So everything I'm doing this morning is ultra-mindful. I felt the fabric of my socks as I put them on. I am intentionally feeling every step I take on the floor. I closed my eyes and listened to the water flow as I filled the coffee pot. I smelled the coffee. I focus on every sound, smell, touch.
And it's working. I'm so focused on being in the moment that all that stress I was feeling is gone - because I don't have time for it because I'm so hyper-focused on NOW. It forced me to stop worrying about "what if" and all the "maybe" scenarios.
So, I guess I'm saying, if you're struggling today, try to just be present. Even if you can only do it for a minute. It starts with a minute. I don't know what two hours from now will feel like, but right now I can breathe. And I'm going to keep trying to breathe.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
Oh I love coffee. I had started drinking coffee again when I started having anxiety attacks every morning. And I still do. However I was told to help to reduce anxiety I needed to stop drinking caffeine drinks including coffee. What a bummer that was for me I now drink decaf herbal tea. It’s soothing. However still struggling with anxiety every morning. Thanks for sharing mindfulness is helping you. I have tried that and also listening to The Anxiety Guy ( a youtube ). It helps me somewhat

Anxiety is so frustrating and threatening. It damages your inner soul and your peace of mind. It leaves you nowhere but in darkness. I'm a survivor and at times I get back to that state. Where my mind would not respond and I could hardly feel myself alive. The panic and anxiety take over me. I feel like we have a forever connection and perhaps it's for a lifetime. I use several tips to calm myself. https://mangoclinic.com/top-30-fantastic-blogs-that-will-help-you-heal-during-the-pandemic/ This one is my favorite article. It helped me a lot to sooth my mental health.
@jessicjames hey! I used to feel this a lot too. I wake up and feel anxious and my whole day would be spoilt. I've learnt meditation helps a ton for me. Like maybe my day isnt gonna go well cus I did it for one day. But it helped me so much in the longrun and I find myself more calm and able to not panic more and more when anxiety comes...
