Overwhelmed
I am on day 5 of overwhelming anxiety. I've done well managing my symptoms in the past but it feels close to impossible today. I have done grounding techniques, took a hot shower, took Xanax (which I try to avoid) I'm writing everything down. Saw a therapist for the first time today. What sometimes helps is talking to people that understand this and are in a good headspace to talk about how they have had the same feelings until I realize that I am not alone. I need that honesty and something to look forward too.

Hello! It is lovely to meet you, thank you for sharing your problem with us. I can understand why you feel overwhelmed. It can be a real discouragement when you have tried so many coping mechanisms, but nothing worked for you. I can hear that you visited a therapist, hope it will help. They use to really understand people, and certainly understanding is a thing you definitely need. Altough you are maybe not sure yet if the therapist will help you, we are still here for you and you are not alone in this. Feel free to let us know how the session was going and whether you feel better. Take care and stay safe
@tami150 the session went good and I was okay... until I left. Day 6 and I'm just overwhelmed and miss being me. I don't want to fear everything. My dr added seroquel to my medications so fingers crossed
Hello there. I am sorry to hear you're experiencing crippling anxiety. I have felt your pain. Is it caused by a specific event or issue, or is it a medical issue? If it is caused by a problem, anxiety is a form of fear to protect ourselves, and one sure way to get rid of it is to face the problem as best as you can. Hope this helps and hope you feel better soon.
@goodRaspberries844 I've dealt with it on and off my entire life but recently went through something traumatic and I don't know what to do. I do what my therapist haha recommended to no avail and don't see her again until Tuesday my dr upped my Xanax temporarily until it calms down and has added seroquel? I usually take Zoloft only and Xanax as needed (rarely) but now nothing seems enough. I haven't eaten more than a handful I'm 5 days
@Mamachels88 Have you thought of seeing a psychologist or psychiatrist on top of seeing a therapist? While therapy helps, it may not be enough to just talk about the issue, whereas psychology can tackle the root of the problem, or introduce helpful techniques. Also, have you tried journaling? It might sound corny, but writing everything you are feeling can help, this way it is not bouncing around so fiercely in your mind.
@goodRaspberries844 I am currently journaling and fighting to get into a psychologist or psychiatrist
@Mamachels88 Hope it works out for you & hope you find some relief soon.
@Mamachels88 I can relate 900000% to you. Most days I can't even get out of bed. I will to shower then get right back in bed. My anxiety is so overwhelming it consumes me 24-7. Heart palpitations, sweating, shakes and OCD thoughts that never stop. I asked my doctor about changing my meds & have yet to hear back. All that helps me is also Xanax but I don't want to have to take it everyday. I can't eat or sleep. I literally can't function. It is crippling me. You are a rockstar for trying things to help yourself.
