Social anxiety anyone?

This is a pretty common problem, but it's still pretty hard. I only have the few friends in my friend group, which is mainly my first friend's friends. Often I can't even go outside because I'm so stressed about what people will think. I tell myself "no one's staring no one's staring" but it won't go away ;w; When I do go out, I'm constantly worried about people's opinions, even though in my mind I KNOW it doesn't matter, my anxiety is like nope haha everyone's staring LOL. That's why for my first eight years of school I wore hoodies and sweatpants. Now, I'm starting to come out of my shell a TINY bit, but it's tiny steps, and I'm still just as nervous as before (nervous is an understatement). Months ago, before the quarantine, I met someone knew and now we are best friends. My anxiety is just as bad as before, but I have better fashion sense now.

@CoconutPuppy Sometimes, when I think of the way I act in difficult situation and compare it to the way I used to act, I think I handle difficult situations better. It still feels painful. I still feel upset, anxious, sad, and overly emotional, but I know I've gotten better if only a little bit. And I guess that small bit is still progress.

@CoconutPuppy. You're right. No one's looking, staring. They don't give a damn. I'm not sure how old you are but it tends to fade with the confidence of age

I used to worry a lot about other peoples opinions as well. It's not anymore to that extent because I've grown more confident and accepting of who I'm

@CoconutPuppy

I have been there. I felt judged by everybody, even people who just passed mining their own business, without noticing me. It took me quite a while, and yes, I sometimes still feel insecure.

BUT I can guarantee you that those tiny steps will combine into bigger ones. Keep spying out of your shell, sometimes even step out of it, and always remind yourself that you are perfect the way you are. Keep taking tiny steps and be proud of you when you do so because what looks like a tiny step is already quite a leap. Keep daring and be kind to yourself if there are days, where it doesn't work so well.

I have also learned that anybody who judges another, is compensating for a dark spot in their own inner world. It isn't about you. Frankly, though, most people don't care about a stranger passing by or sitting at the table next to them.

Give life a chance!
