Stressed about something that may or may not happen
So recently, my fear of throwing up has been getting worse, with me fearing eating before getting inside of a car again, due to fear of throwing up. Before my fear of throwing up started getting bad again, my father and I were talking about how much we wanted to go to Japan, but since it was closed, we couldn’t.
however, now I’m scared that Japan will reopen soon and I’ll be forced to travel there. I know that if I tell my father that I don’t want to go bcos I’m scared of throwing up, I’ll be forced to go bcos he sees that as me “conquering my fear”. However, I know full well that forcing me to travel to another country will only make my fear worse, and may even cause me to have panic attacks and be traumatised, as this has happened before.
however, if it’s clear that I’m absolutely not fit to travel, like for example having breakdowns due to the fear and being absolutely petrified, he might consider not going, however it’s bit a guarantee and I don’t want it to get to that.
I guess where I’m going with this is that I’m scared that Japan will reopen before school starts here, and I’ll be forced to travel there, and have severe stress due to my fear of throwing up. I’ve been really scared of this for a while now.

Hello, thank you for sharing. It must be very hard feeling like that.

Hi Wishing,
I'm sorry that you have to deal with emetophobia, it can be really scary and hard to cope with, It sounds like your intense fears of throwing up have been really affecting you lately. Do you know what's been causing it to be worst lately?
Going to Japan with your dad might be fun but because of your fears, the thought of going is a nightmare. I'm sorry that your dad doesn't seem to understand exactly what you are going through nor is he offering you the support that would be nice. Simply doing something to "get over your fears" doesn't always work and just makes things worst.
I understand when you say that by going, it will just make things worst for you. It's a complicated problem that doesn't have a simple solution like he is offering. Your fears of being forced to go to Japan are valid. Nobody should be forced to do anything that they don't want to. I hope that your dad will understand cuz it really is no fun to feel alone and misunderstood. We are alwasy here for you and to support you. I'm wishing you the best. <3

Hey
That sounds really stressful and I am so sorry to hear that. So you are anxious of driving in a car because you don't want to vomit. And your father thinks that when you drive to Japan, you would overcome your fear. And you think it will get worse. It could happen both. But you should only do what you feel comfortable with. And maybe some anxiety breathing techniques could help you.
So I hope you will get through that. Take care :)
