Stressed about work
I started a new job in September last year and the first few weeks were Rocky for a number of reasons. Ive stuck it out though and felt like I was making real headway...until today when I found out that my client has gone over my head to talk about concerns he has about the function I lead on. Hes gone straight to my boss, who the came to me to ask what was going on. I said I might have an inclin and told her what I thought it might be. Im just worried sick now though because I confided in the client about an issue I though was a personal grudge against me and now Im worried the client is going to throw me under the bus and say hes concerned about us as a team. In my anxious brain Im arriving at the worst outcome (I get sacked, cant pay my bills, mortgage, loans etc lose everything) I know its a negative way to look at things but I really cant help it and now its spiralling out of control. I know worrying isnt going to change what may or may not be said but I really cant help it. All I want is to do a good job but Im worried Ive mucked it up.

While clients and customers (and even most co-workers) can start to feel like friends, keeping a professional boundary is always ideal. Even if they were to mention something, this could create an opportunity to show your boss that youre someone who is able to hold themselves accountable and learn from past mistakes. Its an opportunity to show your character. ♡
But since you arent sure either way, it seems like youre spending a lot of time living in the fear of the unknown, than appreciating the good that also may be around you. What helps you take your mind off of things, usually?
