The bliss of your own company

Here I am, sitting with my barefoot on the slab, with no one around other than the light breeze and street lights giving me company. I was never a person who enjoys my own company but now I do. When I wonder why was it that way I can't seem to ignore the fact that it was projecting from my own insecurities. People say it's because I am extroverted that I don't enjoy my own company but I think it's deeper than that. It goes beyond the external persona we put on. I might have not been confident in myself enough to be okay with my own company. I'm not saying that I hated it but I did not love it either. I always thought about the other times when I was surrounded by people or the next time it's going to be like that. I do like sitting with my thoughts and writing it down, like this. I feel like I'm talking to someone.
College has taught me a lot and the biggest lesson would be to find happiness within yourself because nobody else can provide it. Even if they do, can you really trust that to last forever? Especially when everyone is so apna apna. See I am not saying I haven't made good friends. I have. But again there are times when people have other things to do. And that's okay. I'm glad I am at a position where I am okay with myself and enjoy my own company and do not sulk about it.
Umm you know what I'm halfway there. Cause I still do wish I had people around me and I was laughing out loud till my stomach hurts. But that hasn't been happening for a while now even with company. All it has been was stressful. So now I realise what bliss actually can be. Like right now. Me writing this while listening to wholesome music sitting under a cone- shaped shed under bright yellow light looking around to see the raindrops falling rhythmically creating this soothing atmosphere with a light breeze ruffling through my curly hair. Feels peaceful. Solitude is bliss and I hope I can say that every single time solitude finds me.

@savanaah

How beautiful that you are finding peace being with yourself. Social interaction is important, but being at peace with ourselves makes everything more fulfilling.

Thank you for sharing your mindful moment.

@savanaah

your post very beautifully written, its a great reflective post, with so much insights that even those who are not around can see your perspective. you have come quiet far in your journey of self discovery. its a journey many people wish they could complete, including me. you made some excellent points of finding happiness within ones self, recognizing ones weakness and the ability to distinguish between being an extrovert and your choice of company. we are all living for the human experience and each of us have a different experience and battle which fight. I am grateful to have seem the perspective of a different individual. finding isn't easy and your post expresses the growth you have endured to become this version of you.

@savanaah

This is so beautifully written and I'm so happy you're finding comfort within yourself! Like you mentioned, it's really important to be able to sit with ourselves and contemplate. I also wouldn't get too down on yourself for wanting to have a good time with others - I think everyone has a deep desire to feel connected and make memories with the people we care about the most. It's about being able to see the value in being with others and ourselves, which it seems like you're already getting a good hold of :)
