Venting.
I suffer from anxiety and depression, theres no lie there. There are some days when Im at the top of the world wondering, why do I need 7cups? I wont feel like that again... things will get better.
Then there are the days when the tiniest thing kicks everything over in a split second... Im just standing there in shock looking down at the mess in front of me. Hard to breath, hard to concentrate... blaming myself for making that mess.
This week is one of those weeks. I go through a variety of emotions in seconds because my anxiety puts my mind through all these different hypothetical situations. Sometimes, they arent hypothetical.
My best friend and my brother drink almost every day, and when they drink they start spewing their truth more and more... they tend to get mean about it. I was already going through my own battles prior to this week and theyve gone and blamed me for everything. Ive been thinking how stupid I was and was blaming myself all week... they just help confirm my anxiety thoughts correct.
Everyone says they dont understand what Im going through, so they cant help. Some call my anxiety a weakness, and that Im weak and Ill never be good enough to do anything...
maybe they are right...
@BackyardRoses You are not weak. These people are being needlessly mean to you.
I also don't know about your specific situation, but if they say this while drinking, I'd be a little suspicious, since alcohol lowers inhibitions. You may have received an insight you might not have if they weren't drinking.
I'm sorry you're going through that.
@BackyardRoses
Hey there, hopefully you are doing well.There's a few things I would like to point out;
I suffer from anxiety and depression, theres no lie there. There are some days when Im at the top of the world wondering, why do I need 7cups? I wont feel like that again... things will get better. (I could relate to this, its just shocking at times how feeling at the top of the world drastically changes to feel sad and down. it does sounds like the emotions tend to change, and its like being up and down)
Then there are the days when the tiniest thing kicks everything over in a split second... (It can be quite overwhelming at times, when theres a few things that kick everything over. I suspect they are a few things that are not being adressed, so this is how the mind tends to bring them up when they are being avoided) Im just standing there in shock looking down at the mess in front of me. (Sorry to hear that, it feels like being frozen and not being able to proceed after this. I believe this is where strong emotions take over, and then it becomes overwhelming to process them because of how they come at you) Hard to breath, hard to concentrate... blaming myself for making that mess. (This can definetly be quite scary at times, specially when this symptoms appears often, and even more so when this guilt comes. This is where you feel like you are in survival mode, and the inner critic voice which comes from how you were treated growing up tends to show up. This is where you tend to blame yourself etc)
This week is one of those weeks. I go through a variety of emotions in seconds (I can relate to this, they come in such a rapid session that it can be quite hard to process them all) because my anxiety puts my mind through all these different hypothetical situations. Sometimes, they arent hypothetical. (I see what you mean, do you think that this could be your way to prevent getting hurt or perhaps wanting to have some control of the situation?)
My best friend and my brother drink almost every day, (There's something going on here, and it doesn't sound healthy. I wouldn't be surprised if they are using alcohol to avoid and cope with their issues) and when they drink they start spewing their truth more and more... they tend to get mean about it. (They sound toxic and abusive under the influence) I was already going through my own battles prior to this week and theyve gone and blamed me for everything. (This is just awful...you don't deserve to go through this. I believe they are using you as a scapegoat to place the blame on you because they are incapable of admitting their own fault and issues, so they need someone they can project on. In reality its their issues) Ive been thinking how stupid I was and was blaming myself all week... (It sounds like you were going through a tough time. I don't think you are what you are saying now, however it can be quite overwhelming going through those thoughts. Their words and actions had an impact you, and then it made you believe what they said was true. There's a 100% chance that what they said is false) they just help confirm my anxiety thoughts correct.
Everyone says they dont understand what Im going through, so they cant help. (Unfortunetly, not many people understand anxiety and depression, however it can be quite tough knowing this because feeling supported and understood is so important) Some call my anxiety a weakness, (It's not a weakness at all, and its not your fault you have anxiety) and that Im weak and Ill never be good enough to do anything...(It can be tough feeling good enough when your family didn't make you feel this way, but you are enough since the first day you came into this world. I know it can be hard to believe, but their beliefs of you are false because they are lost in their own issues and ways. You can do anything, it just takes small victories and going for what you want on order for the self esteem to grow)
maybe they are right...
@BackyardRoses, they're wrong. If they don't understand what you're going through or feeling, they have no right to invalidate your feelings.
