Work kills my self esteem

I have a good job, I work with good people, but. But. No job is perfect, and I have very low self esteem- I'm always worried about not being good enough at my work, or in general, and I worry that everyone hates me. I come home feeling like I've been beat up.

@Tiikeri101 There is a guy at my work who purposely does things to get on everyone's nerves, and he's very passive-aggressive when we ask him to stop. Unless you do things intentionally to make people dislike you, I don't think you have anything to worry about in your relationships to other co-workers. What do you think has caused your low self-esteem over the course of your life? Once you can really work on this or at least have some awareness of what causes it, it's likely that work and all areas of your life will get a little easier. It is a process that takes time, but it is well worth it. :)

@Tiikeri101

You are not alone. Work is my number one source of stress and anxiety. Like you, I assume that everyone at work hates me, although in my case, I'm sure of it. I can't do anything right and I should just quit my job and stay home like the worthless person I am.

It sounds like it's not necessarily others mistreating you at work, but rather a mixture of negative self-talk and low self-esteem has made you question if you're doing a good job. Does that seem correct?

If so, do you feel that you can talk to your managers about this? One thing that my superviser and I did that helped is getting reassurance that I'm doing a good job every shift. Would that be possible?

@AdVictoriam, I think that's a lot of it. I'm not really well suited to my job, but I also don't really have the flexibility, ability, background etc. to get into something better. To be honest, I don't think I'm good at anything at all, so it would be the same anywhere else. I answer to a lot of people , and for the most part they are great, but it really only takes one who doesn't like you to torpedo my self worth. I can't seem to do anything right, and I have been terrible at maintaining boundaries.

I'm really struggling this week with "I suck, everyone hates me, I'm incompetent "

Hi :). Im guilty of negative self talk, particularly in work. I suffer with anxiety most of the time but it's at its worst when I'm in work. I'm always worried that I will do the wrong thing or say the wrong thing and everyone will think I'm stupid. I work myself up about it so much that I hold back and don't allow people to see my true potential. My manager gives me great feedback about my work and encourages me to progress so I have no reason to feel this way. But my anxiety causes me to feel constantly on edge while at work. Sometimes I go and sit in the toilet for a few minutes just to compose myself because I feel like I'm having an anxiety attack. It sucks :(
