@indigoNest5772 Well I have been put on this test medicine for seizures, but also used for anxiety and depression. At first I didn't read all the papers and notice that it was a C4, u know, controlled substance tier 4. So, I was taking it for a year, some were placebo pills and some were the actual pills. Sometimes I felt dizzy, really tired, paranoid, and had the "out of body" scary feeling a person gets when they're doing cocaine or heroin. I only know how that feels b/c I have smoked weed before that was laced w/cocaine. But anyway, I finally got the full prescription b/c it's FDA approved now and I do not like it. Tired, dizzy, paranoia, hallucinations .. they are coming out w/new anti-seizure drugs, but also used for anxiety and depression, but they are bad. They are controlled substances and it's b/c they mess w/your head a lot! I am taking another one now .. almost the same effects. I'm just telling you b/c Idk what kind of meds your taking, but I'd avoid any new ones. I'm going back to my regular seizure meds that I have been on for like 12 years.

@indigoNest5772 That's happened to me before with Effexor. I became emotionally numb with Effexor and didn't feel like myself anymore. The side effects went away after 6+ months but it still felt awful.

I completely understand how it must feel to lose your sense of self after being put on that type of medication. It so difficult watching your old self slip away. Has there been something that has helped you regain your personality? Talking about this can really help. We're here to listen ◡̈

@indigoNest5772 Hello, I am one of the trained listeners here at 7cups, This sounds really tough, But it's totally normal to feel a bit off when you're adjusting to medication. Sometimes it can change how you feel or even express yourself. It might help to remind yourself that this is just a chapter in your story, not the whole book! Maybe try exploring new hobbies or reconnecting with things you used to love? it can help you find pieces of yourself again. You've got this, and it's okay to take your time! :)

I am currently taking medicine for schizophrenia. I do not trust that I have this issue. I have completely lost my confidence. I cannot have normal conversation with people. I feel like quitting my job and my life. I am so underconfident and so judged that I cannot function normally.

@indigoNest5772 I can definitely relate to what you are feeling. When I started my medication, it was like I lost a part of myself, and I felt like a zombie. It was hard to find a balance, and I felt disconnected from who I was. Fortunately, I was able to explore other alternatives and eventually found what worked for me. It took time, but now I feel like I am in a much better mental space. I hope you find the right path for yourself, too.
